
I am a big fan of trying to watercolor desserts and make them as realistic as possiable. I could spend everyday finding different desserts and challenging myself to watercolor them.
If you are a beginner watercolor artist and would like to try to watercolor this cake, below are the supplies I have used asl well as a youtube short on my process.
Brushes
The Watercolor brushes used are: Silver Black Velvet Series 3000S size 4, 6, 8 Winsor & Newton Series 7 size 0, 2, 3
Paper
Artistico Extra White 100% Cotton Hot Press Fabriano. This paper is good for fine detail and smooth finish.
Colors
Cake colors:
Holbein Artists: Touch of lemon yellow, Jaune Brilliant, Yellow Ochre, Winsor & Newton Yellow Ochre Gold, Burnt Sienna
Frosting & Jam:
Holbein: Jaune Brilliant, Yellow Ochre, with muted Sennelier Payne’s Grey
Sennelier: Carmine, Alizarin Crimson, touch of Cobalt Violet Light
Jam Shadows:
Using a touch of Sennelier Warm Sepia and Ultramarine Deep
Winsor & Newton: Yellow Ochre Gold
Raspberries:
Sennelier Bright Red,Alizarin Crimson
Highlights:
Holbein Gouache White
Blueberries:
Sennelier Ultramarine Deep Cobalt Violet
Mint Leaves:
Sennelier Hookers Green, Pthalo Green Light, Sap Green
Cast Shadows:
Ultramarine Deep with sepia
