Labor Day Weekend @ Cobra Kai
After so many years, I finally...finally watched Cobra Kai! But before I could watch a show I've been wanting to get into for a long while, I had to finally watch the actual films. It took a while, but I did just that, watching Parts I, II, and III of The Karate Kid, and even watching The Next Karate Kid in case there's a connection there.

CFL Week 13 Recap: A Labour Day Weekend to Remember
I do enjoy the Labour Day Weekend games in the Canadian Football League, but this one was extra special, because both Labour Day Monday games actually aired on American television, on the CBS Sports Network. Before Week 13 kicked off on Saturday, the CFL announced its first clinching scenario: the Winnipeg Blue Bombers could get in with a win. Simple as that. Of course, this was the weekend of the rivalry matchups, and in the case of the Blue Bombers, they faced off against the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Regina on Sunday.

MLB Pennant Race 2023: Spoiler Alert
It's September, folks! The final month of the 2023 MLB season, that home stretch that comes before the postseason field is completed. Now, before I continue, I have to say this. I pride myself on punctuality when it comes to these stories, but circumstances can prevent such a thing from happening. In my case, I've been under the weather for the last few days, and during that time, my only obsession was relaxing and doing as little as possible. This is my third year posting such stories on Vocal, and I usually write these on Sunday nights, but the spirit wasn't quite willing just yet. However, on this Labor Day morning, I am close to feeling completely better, and I'm here with this weekly report of the pennant races.

Kiana James' Road to Becoming #1 Contender
The latest edition of NXT was main evented by a Fatal Four Way to determine the #1 Contender for the NXT Women's Championship, and the combatants were Gigi Dolin, Kiana James, Blair Davenport, and former champion Roxanne Perez, with the bout being just a week in the making after all four women confronted the reigning champion, Tiffany Stratton. The bout was hotly contested and actually combined two feuds in NXT's Women's Division, as Kiana was feuding with Gigi, while Roxanne and Blair had a heated feud after the latter was revealed as the mysterious villainess behind a series of attacks on NXT's Women's Division, including Roxanne.

CM Punk: It's Always Something
I've been wrestling (no pun intended) with writing this piece for the better part of a year. I have my reasons. One of them is because I didn't want to waste (at least) 600 words on such a toxic human being. So for a while, I wasn't going to write about this. However, after his latest incident, I had to do it, mainly to call out Punk's bullshit, but also to serve as a long and drawn out "I told you so" to anyone who actually supported Punk's return to AEW earlier this year.

CFL Week 12 Recap: 1,415 Days
It happened. It finally happened. The Edmonton Elks won a home game in the 2020s. Week 12 of the 2023 CFL season ended with the Edmonton Elks hosting the lowly Ottawa Redblacks, who entered the week in the bottom of the East Division. The Elks were coming off finally getting their first win of the season against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, but that was in Hamilton. There was one thing they had to take care of still: winning a home game for the first time in this decade. They actually trailed after the first quarter, but the good news, it was only 1-0. The Elks found the end zone in the second quarter, and after that, they never looked back. Edmonton racked up the points while all Ottawa could muster was two field goals and a second rouge. The offense did wake up a bit late in the game, but it was too little, too late for the Redblacks.

"The Rookie" and "The Rookie: Feds" Cast on Celebrity Family Feud
I am a huge fan of Celebrity Family Feud; actually, I've been a fan of Family Feud overall since I was a kid, but that's another story for another time. The current iteration of Celebrity Family Feud has been part of ABC's usually summer collection of prime game shows for at least five years, and I've seen many great groups on this version currently hosted by the legendary Steve Harvey. TV show casts, athletes, comedians, and this season featured teams of WWE stars. Speaking of this season, the latest episode featured the casts of two of my current favorite shows: The Rookie and The Rookie: Feds.

The King of Showcases
Thirty seconds. That's how long I had my face in my hands when I read the news. In a week that has seen us mourn the losses of wrestling icons Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt, we are mourning yet another loss. Bob Barker, the longtime iconic host of The Price is Right, passed away on August 26, 2023--only 108 days short of his 100th birthday. Again, I buried my face in my hands for a half of a minute after reading this, because The Price is Right was a massive part of my childhood. The show was my jam. Still is.

Top 5 Favorite Bray Wyatt Moments
This really, really hurts. The wrestling world, wrestling fans, and everyone affected felt the terrible heartbreak of the news that broke a day prior: Bray Wyatt suddenly passed away at the tender age of 36. The eldest offspring of Mike Rotunda (aka Irwin R. Schuyster), Windham Rotunda was born on May 23, 1987 in Brooksville, Florida, and it was in 2009 that he delved into the family business of wrestling. He was part of a vast collection of third-generation wrestlers, as his maternal grandfather was the legendary Blackjack Mulligan. In addition, his uncles were wrestlers Barry and Kendall Windham, and Bray wasn't the only one in his generation to enter the ring, as his younger brother, Taylor Rotunda, joined WWE as Bo Dallas.

A Look Back: The John Cena/Edge Rivalry (Part II: 2009)
When we last left these two legends, they had fought in a steel cage match to end their feud at that time. What has happened with Edge and John Cena since then? Well, Edge would be part of Rated RKO with Randy Orton, and hold the World Tag Team Championship twice, and 2007 would see him capture the Money in the Bank briefcase from Mr. Kennedy, and then cash in on The Undertaker to capture the World Heavyweight Championship. Edge would surrender the title due to injury, but after returning at Survivor Series, he would regain the title at Armageddon, and would spend 2008 in a big feud with The Undertaker, which saw Edge regain the title he lost to Taker at WrestleMania. Edge would add two more runs as WWE Champion after his feud with Taker ended.

A Look Back: The John Cena/Edge Rivalry (Part I: 2006)
On the August 18, 2023 episode of SmackDown, WWE Hall of Famer Edge was celebrated in his hometown of Toronto, as the evening marked the observed 25th anniversary of the beginning of his WWE career. I've seen a lot from Edge in his career, but I cannot help but basically obsess over what I consider his greatest rivalry: the one with John Cena. I had been planning to write about this for a long time, and during that time, the plan was to split this up into two parts, because I am very detailed and can pretty much describe this bit-by-bit. Plus, the stories differed in each half of this amazing feud.
