Rocky Mountain High (AFC Week 16)
I figured this would happen. Week 15 saw three teams with a chance to clinch spots. Two of them did. Because that was the first week to have actual clinching scenarios, and also because 13 teams have been officially eliminated already, guess what? We have a lot of scenarios in Week 16. Nine teams can clinch spots this week! Nine! And for those who know my writing on Vocal, you know what that means. Split stories by conference this week.

NFL Week 15 Recap: Tickets Punched
The NFL fandom celebrated one big elimination this week, but under that headline was something more positive: the first clinching scenarios of the season. Two teams had "win and in" scenarios, and one of them was the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams hosted the Detroit Lions, serving as the "Game of the Week" during the late window. I figured that this game would deliver big time; the Lions and Rams both have strong offenses, and it showed.

Thank You, John Cena. Top Story - December 2025.
When December 13, 2025 arrived, I welcomed it. I welcomed it with open arms. The reason was simple: I wanted to see how John Felix Anthony Cena, Jr, someone who I've been a fan of for over 20 years, would end his iconic and legendary career.

What Went Wrong: Sic Semper Tyrannis
It happened. It actually, by God, happened. When an insufferable entity is taken down in sports, fans who have hate-watched said entity go through a number of stages. Denial's usually the first one, and it's not the "That didn't happen" denial, it's usually the "Is it real?" denial. Then comes the acceptance, and finally, the joy. The immense, immense joy. We've seen many instances of this in sports over the years, but this one clearly has to top a lot of them. And I'm speaking as a Yankees fan who enjoyed the news that the Houston Astros were eliminated.

The REAL Great Eight
The Colorado Avalanche's four game road trip was quite interesting, to say the least. The trip started in NYC, with games against the Islanders and Rangers. The Isles were first, and they did something no one else had done all season: they took it to the Avalanche. The Avs were soundly defeated, 6-3, the first time we lost by more than one goal, and our second regulation loss all season. As the saying goes, it's how you respond to these fallbacks that makes the difference, and we responded with a clutch overtime win at MSG.

Welcome to the Party, Pal! (Week 15)
We are now in the very pivotal stage of the season. No more bye weeks. Everyone plays. We are one week away from Saturday NFL action. Week 15 brings the season into mid-December; about two weeks away from Christmas, but very important. While some NFL teams look to get into the playoffs, in some fantasy football leagues, it is playoff time.

Three Divisions, Two Battling Teams Each, One Wild Sunday
Week 14 of the NFL season officially brought the sport to the month of December. December is the final month of the calendar year, and once upon a time, December ended the NFL season. In the last five or six decades, December serves as that pivotal month that ends the regular season, similar to March and April in the NBA and NHL, and September in MLB. December is where the most important games are played, and regarding Week 14, there were three that stood out the most.

A New York Minute
The Colorado Avalanche kicked off the month of December with another home win, this one against the Vancouver Canucks. Now, the Avs are on the road; a four-game trip that mostly takes place in the East Coast. The season has been very amazing. Only one regulation loss, near perfect play, and a huge points streak. Which begs the question: when will that other shoe finally drop?

San Jose Sharknado Warning
This has been a wild NHL season so far. We are almost two months into this thing, and we've seen a lot of surprising things happen, even by hockey standards. I've been looking for a non-Colorado Avalanche story to write about from this season, and honestly, this wasn't the planned story I had in mind. Given the fact that I saw something that confirmed my suspicions, I had to write about the San Jose Sharks.

Oh, Bother! (Week 14)
Week 13 came and went, and good God, what a mess that was! So many things were twisted and turned during that Thanksgiving weekend that occurred, and as a result, we have quite the picture entering the final five weeks of the season. Week 14 of 18 is early in the home stretch, so teams have some time to get things going, but not much. Week 14 officially turns the calendar to the month of December (yes, Week 13 ended on December 1). Once upon a time, the season as a whole ended in December with the champion crowned. That hasn't been the case in over six decades, but still, December does currently serve as the final full month of the regular season.
