A Plagiaristic Poetic Progressive Playlist
An Eleven Line Acrostic Poem

Introduction
This just came into my head because I have become a member of this group , and many of the records in my collection appear on the group and the people seem really welcoming and engaging, but the group has disappeared now.
I thought I would create a plagiaristic poem based on bands, albums and songs and follow it with a playlist of the songs chosen in the poem.
The thing is hardly any of these words are mine, they all come from band names, songs and album titles, so this is an almost perfect plagiaristic poem (details of the concept follow the songs)
I have maintained a syllable count and managed to keep rhymes although eleven lines is not a standard length but that is the nature of an Acrostic poem.
The Poem:
Progressive

The Music:
These are all great pieces of music and most of them are pretty long but worth your time. You may disagree with my choices and wonder where bands like Yes and Jethro Tull are, but they didn't fit into the acrostic.
Pink Floyd - "Sheep" from "Animals"
This is my favourite song from the "Animals" album, but I actually prefer its original incarnation which was "Raving And Drooling" but I will make do with this. You can listen to "Raving and Drooling" to compare, it is just far more menacing for me:
"Raving and Drooling, I Fell On His Neck With A Sceam"
Vicious
Rush - "Xanadu" from "A Farewell To Kings"
Ozric Tentacles - "Space For The Earth"
Genesis - "The Musical Box" from "Nursery Cryme"
Robin Trower - "Bridge Of Sighs"
Robin Trower was a member of Procul Harum, but his solo work became a lot heavier, with some comparing his sound to Jimi Hendrix
Electric Light Orchestra - "Fire On High" from "Face The Music"
I first heard this as the "B" side of one of their singles and loved the over the top horror atmosphere waiting over two minutes before the band come in and then an elongated acoustic coda overtaken by the strings. I still love it.
Strawbs - "Benedictus" from "Grave New World"
The vinyl version of this is once the most beautiful in my collection with the William Blake cover, the lyric book, and the awesome inside cover similar to the inside of Led Zepellin's untitled album. I don;t know if one influenced the other

Soft Machine - "Out-Bloody-Rageous" from "Third"
Although Soft Machine are known for jazz, they were part of the progressive Canterbury scene and this twenty minute slice of sound I would not consider jazz but I find it enjoyable. You should give it a listen.
Iron Butterfly - "Theme" from "Iron Butterfly"
I wanted to include "In A Gadda Da Vida" in the poem but it was too many syllables when combined with the band name so I went with "Theme"
Van Der Graaf Generator - "Lemmings" from "Pawn Hearts"
Van Der Graaf Generator were unusual for a rock band as for their early albums, including "Pawn Hearts" there were no guitars.
Emerson, Lake and Palmer - "Hoedown" from "Trilogy"
Keith Emerson was great at the destruction of classical music (in a good way) and this is an absolute favourite of mine.
The Plagiaristic Poetry Mission Statement
I know that sounds awfully pretentious but if you want to know more it's here.

Excellent, that was interesting and fun.
Okay, these are all memories of my musical past, and I like it... But "Sheep"? Seriously? "Dogs" is the real masterpiece! 🤔

Music and the acrostic are a powerful combination and you carried it off well. Apt music choices!
This was quite a creative poem. Loved the reviews as well.
