Joe Budden Confirms He Was Considered For “The Breakfast Club” Before Its Debut
During a recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe's "Club Shay Shay," Joe Budden revealed that his career could have gone a lot differently.

Joe Budden allegedly once could have been the leader of The Breakfast Club. Instead, he had one dinner and the talks didn’t go further. This may have been the defining moment for him.
What he could have done creatively may have been compromised even with his high dollar figures. He didn’t have to kowtow to anyone just saying the news cycle anywhere else. His ability to know how to navigate with his smarts, his confidence permitted him to take his talents to his own platform instead of going to radio.
This is what is so wonderful about the business of entertainment. Budden owns equity in Patreon. The Joe Budden Podcast is a pioneering project that not only makes the topics hot but reaps in the money.
The best idea is that Joe Budden chose to keep his show in his own name. He had his own thoughts on how to maintain his status as one of the greatest podcasters on the planet.
For him to commit to his own vision and the radio game be damned. Steve Harvey is stomping all over the urban entertainment sphere on radio anyway. The entirety of the Budden show is completely free from all virtual competition in his lane. He’s not Mr. Beast but he’s not trying to be, either.
As Joe brings together a team of compatriots and not zombies with tongues, he envisions creating more shows with his ability to create his own content on his own terms. What he likes about his work is that he can claim it. He can bring his talents to any platform but he wants to retain creative control over his work.
What’s so admirable about this is the fact the visit to Club Shay Shay. On the show, Shannon Sharpe asked Budden if he’s “treating” himself. Why didn’t he ask if he is not contributing to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or St. Judes? Where is their unselfishness and altruism (only if it hurts)?
The conversation is largely about business and the relationship between money and productiveness. Shay Shay asked interesting questions concerning the finances of the world of Internet shows.
Joe Budden owns his intellectual property and maintains his own ability to guide his show on his own terms. Joe Budden is focused on his chances to continue to be a boss and a trailblazer. His focus is on trying to get as much content out into the world.
In this semi-capitalist America, there exist a few glints of freedom shining through like sunlight through the leaves. It only makes sense that Joe presents himself as a leader in the field at last. What he continues to process in his pathway to success after success is the joy he reaps in making money, yes, but the passion is what drives him.
What he takes seriously is his ambition to create new opportunities for himself and others. The Shay interview truly clicks because it is so laser focused on business. Salute to Sharpe for making the interview so commerce-centric. Joe seemed comfortable and clear in his intentions, his possibilities, and his willingness to engage with each topic.
When he makes sure of his business, he creates a space that uplifts everyone around him.
The money is of course paramount but it isn’t all of the way. If you love what you’re doing, the money will follow like a fox picking up and gobbling bread crumbs. As it stands, Joe Budden is still extremely profitable. His content is so powerful that he has the spine to traverse the humid and torrid waters of the real entertainment industry.
