INTRO

Echos of a Snare drum in a marching beat (Like in the Warrior's Song - Sean Householder, attached at the end)

**

VERSE ONE

If I could reach into your nightmares

I'd have some messages to send

How can you possibly undo the scars

Or uncaring of a friend

Tell me, how do you uncover

Demons lurking inside another's heart

Take a long look in the mirror

To find the place you need to start

*

CHORUS

(growling/roaring, slow and intense)

I gave you everything I had

You tore the flesh off of my skin

I stayed even when it turned bad

Still you refused to let me innnnnnn....

We've reached the point of no return

you will not pull me down again

So let the ash and bridges burn

I need to purge you from my veeeeeeeins

*

VERSE TWO

A monster underneath your bed

A vision born inside your head

Another wish that you were dead

Bringing the nightmare to an end

You sugarcoat the poisoned fruit

Making the outcome absolute

Wearing the hangman's favorite suit

Smiling as if your deeds were cute

*

HOOK

(guttural growl)

Rahhhhhhhhh, gotta get you out, gotta get you out of my .... Rahhhhhhh, Gotta dig you out, gotta dig you out, outta my veins....Gotta get you out, gotta dig you out, Rahhhhhh, get you out of my head, before I go insane....

*

CHORUS

(growling/roaring, slow and intense)

I gave you everything I had

You tore the flesh off of my skin

I stayed even when it turned bad

Still you refused to let me innnnnnn....

We've reached the point of no return

you won't pull me down again

So let the ash and bridges burn

I need to purge you from my veeeeeeeins

*

BRIDGE

(soft and meaningful, like a ballad, building at the end)

Loving you was like a dream, had me floating on a cloud

out of nowhere came the rain, now I'm falling to the ground

I know I should have let you go, you pulled me in to let me go

Gravity tore me all apart allowing you to shred my heeearttttt

(Screaming) Obliterated everything I waaaassss! Rahhhhhh

*

CHORUS

(growling/roaring, slow and intense)

I gave you everything I had

You tore the flesh off of my skin

I stayed even when it turned bad

Still you refused to let me innnnnnn....

We've reached the point of no return

you will not pull me down again

So let the ash and bridges burn

I need to purge you from my veeeeeeeins

*

VERSE THREE

Yes, you took everything I had

There's nothing left for me to give

Slammed the doors with your bags packed

Left me wonderin' how to live

Falling deep into a void

Where arrows penetrate the soul

All that's left is numbing noise

Slipping through this empty hole

*

CHORUS

(growling/roaring, slow and intense)

I gave you everything I had

You tore the flesh off of my skin

I stayed even when it turned bad

Still you refused to let me innnnnnn....

We've reached the point of no return

you will not pull me down again

So let the ash and bridges burn

I need to purge you from my veeeeeeeins

*

OUTRO

Now there's nothing left to lose, nothing left to say

Nothing left to choose, now that your love has gone away

*

A/N

My youngest daughter introduced me to this style of music while making her way through high school, with hits like "Let the bodies hit the floor," and a variety of songs by "of Mice And Men"

Although a sharp contrast from my James Taylor and Steely Dan favorites, the talent and creativity was not lost on me.

Please be kind as I dip my toe in the grunge and share my one and only screamo song.

Not my type of music, but felt the lyrics deeply.

What a story song this is grunge or not still very good. There is a lot of emotion in this one.

I would love to hear a musical interpretation of this, but am tempted to interpret as a blues number with Janis Joplin on vocals rather than grunge. Great challenge entry, Kelli! Good luck!

Love your song so much, but, ugh, that outro really got me.
