Production team members darted in and out of the room in Loreen’s guest house. Makeup and hair teams enhanced Loreen’s beauty. She sat pert in a royal blue and black blouse and her hair pulled back into a pony tail.

The director, Finley Newhouse, smiled. It was an easy, disarming little grin. His voice remained low and even.

“Now that we have a crew in here, we’ll be able to iron out any wrinkles in the process. Are you good to go?”

“Yes.”

“I don’t believe in any of the ideas you spout….”

“That’s your problem, Mr. Newhouse,” Loreen retorted.

“I know, I know. I just don’t see things your way. That doesn’t mean we can’t broadcast the best classes in the world.”

“Precisely.”

“You know I once was a capitalist. I used to read your books and listen to your lectures. I read how you saved businesses from total ruin. It amazes me that you don’t support altruism.”

Loreen then got up from her chair and walked away with a clarity and understanding of her actions.

“Mrs. Breen! Where are you going?” Newhouse called after her.

“If you don’t like my ideas, keep them to yourself. What you’re not going to do is disrespect me in my home.”

“Disrespect…what did I say?” Newhouse asked. An audience began to form. Their blank faces emerged from the darkness.

“You said, ‘I used to read your books and listen to your lectures.’ As if you disapprove of them now. That’s an insult. Then you suggest I become an altruist(!). Ask your AD to step up and fulfill your role. I think it’s time for you to exit…”

Newhouse looked down and up again then packed all his gear and left the room. One of Loreen’s staff, Selena, saw Newhouse to the door.

Sharp and powerful! Loreen claimed respect without raising her voice—absolutely commanding. Loved this chapter! 👏
