"Wasn't that her seventh home?" Whispered Linsey.
"She's hopeless..." whispered the adults. I cupped my hands around my ears, trying to drown out the sound. My seventh adoptive parents had returned me this morning after I released rats into their family restaurant. They yelled at me the whole car ride here and called me "the devil's child". I sighed to myself. I looked out the window at the passing cars when one pulled into the parking lot. Two women and a man got out of the car. Whatever, I thought not paying them any more attention. I instead drew my attention to the crowd of kids circling me.
"Zoe, you bastard!" said Jacob, he was clearly angry because of the stunt I pulled this morning. "Because of what you did the adults found my secret stash" He was talking about how I stole a wallet from the adults and when they went to search our rooms they found Jacob's stash of drugs under his pillow.
"It's your fault for having that stuff" I told him as I got up to walk past him, he blocked my path. I shoved him hard and he stumbled back then I felt a burning sensation on my cheek. I was punched by one of his half witted goons. I immediately punched him back then kicked him in the nuts, he fell to the ground in pain. Jacob punched me and I punched back, it turned into a all out brawl. Kicking, biting, scratching, you name it we were doing it to each other. The adults caught on to the fight and tried to pull us apart but I held on and continued to punch him. Eventually we were separated and put into confinement. We were put into the rooms alone. The room I was put into was bare, the only thing inside was a table and a chair.
"Think about what you did!" One of the adults yelled at me as they closed the door. I went to the corner, face burning, and sat back to the corner and watched the door. No one wants me, I thought as I listened to the voices outside. I could tell it was parents looking to adopt a kid by how formal the adults were talking. Then there was footsteps, they came close to the door. The door was opened and three unfamiliar people walked in. Little did I know those three would be my forever parents.
