How Trump Barely Escaped Death | Who was the Shooter

In Butler, Pennsylvania, it was the day of July 13, 2024, when former US President Donald Trump was attacked during a public rally speech. During the event, the sound of three gunshots was heard. Trump was hit by a bullet, but his life was saved.

The US Presidential Elections are expected in November 2024, and during the campaign, Donald Trump held a major public rally in the city of Butler, Pennsylvania.

On the evening of July 13, thousands of people gathered near Butler Farm Show Grounds on Evans City Road. A stage was set up there, where Trump was delivering his speech.

Just behind the stage, there were three buildings, and on two of them, Secret Service snipers were already positioned.

When Trump began speaking, everything seemed normal. But before the shooting, some people in the crowd noticed a man with a gun on the roof of a building to the right side of the stage.

At first, everyone assumed he was a security officer. But when his clothing became clear, it was confirmed that he was not part of the security forces.

Some people began shouting, and this information was likely radioed to Secret Service agents. The snipers behind Trump turned their direction toward the shooter.

Before anyone could fully understand his intentions, the man fired three shots in a row, which can also be heard in the video.

It is important to remember that the distance between the shooter and Trump’s stage was only 410 feet.

At that moment, Trump slightly moved his head, and the bullet grazed his ear and passed through. Otherwise, the shooter’s aim was so accurate that Trump’s survival would have been impossible.

Immediately after the firing, Trump ducked down behind the podium, and Secret Service agents surrounded him.

About 30 seconds later, he was escorted off the stage and quickly taken to the hospital in a bulletproof vehicle.

While Trump was still down, the snipers shot and killed the attacker. The entire process happened so quickly that the shooter did not even get time to climb down from the roof.

Reports stated that the shooter fired a total of eight rounds, which resulted in the death of one person in the crowd, while two others were injured.

The shooter was identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, and an AR-15 rifle was recovered from him.

The attacker lived about 70 kilometers away in Bethel Park. He graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022 and was working in the kitchen of a nursing home.

His colleagues said they had not noticed any unusual behavior in him. However, he had recently obtained membership at a local shooting club called Clifton Sportsmen Club, where the maximum target distance is about 560 feet.

One day before the attack, Thomas bought 50 rounds of ammunition and a ladder from a local store. The gun he used had originally been purchased by his father.

On the day of the shooting, he took leave from his nursing home job and told coworkers he would return the next day.

That same morning, his father filed a police complaint saying his son was missing.

After the attack, many questions have arisen:

So far, the FBI believes it may have been Thomas’s personal decision. Bomb-making materials were also found in his car and home.

He also researched information about Major Depressive Disorder.

Additionally, the FBI found a surprising photo on his phone.

You may remember the Oxford High School shooting in Michigan on November 30, 2021, which was condemned worldwide. A photo of that school shooter was also found on Thomas’s phone.

Was there any connection, or was he part of a larger group? Nothing can be confirmed yet.

However, it is known that since turning 18 in September 2021, Thomas had been registered as a Republican voter — the same party Donald Trump represents.
