J. Cole is real. It may not seem as if he is an actual human being living on Earth these almost two years since Kendrick Lamar and Drake waged lyrical war against each other. But hems still real.

The Fall Off is his upcoming project that should be dropping in 2026. The hang up is that he has allegedly been driven to re-record the album because both rap behemoths appeared on it.

Obviously problematic, he had to go back to the scratch table and rebuild his rhymes. In a moment where A$AP Rocky will be releasing Don’t be Dumb on January 16 and Drake’s ICEMAN will be available sometime in the coming months, Cole had to reassess his whole strategy.

In the same way he clapped back at Lamar on his previous effort, “7 Minute Drill.” He would eventually retract the diss record and remove it from all streaming services.

For Cole to be a bit pensive about his next piece of art is understandable. He tried to big up Lamar, Drake, and himself and the whole thing turned into a huge feud.

Cole is still sharp with the pen. His rhymes penetrate through the noise and show a master craftsman who only wants to get the sound right.

To anyone with ears, they can hear the dedication and forcefulness behind his punchlines. To great effect, Cole has laid out a plan to become a premiere artist in the rap realm.

If he did in fact re-record his album, kudos to him. The time and attention he must have put into the creation of this project is one for the hip hop history books. To make his name known in rap circles as not the kid Jay-Z signed to Rocnation but the pioneer who came from Dreamville who launched careers himself is important.

So for all of his accolades and money; his student loan debt from his prosperous college career still hangs in the balance; Cole is making it his world.

He doesn’t have to run away from anyone. He has the capacity to make new songlists and have them come out on his own imprint, thus increasing his bank account and solidifying his place as artist and businessman.

If he is wise, he will continue down the path of not engaging in any feuds, beef, or tension.

Given his role as a figurehead and now a veteran in the hip hop sphere, it is safe to say Cole has carved out his own self-portrait of a winner in the game.

Despite not being the go-to-guy for a lot of singles, he still gets features and makes his presence known on each one. His prowess on the mic stands out amongst his peers.

Whether he is channeling nas on a track or demonstrating his own brand of flow, the listener cannot count out his stellar skills.

The Fall Off is among the aforementioned most anticipated projects yet to see the light of day. In fact, Cole has not yet released an official statement not even regarding the album’s artwork.

But he has the luxury of doing that. He’s got classics under him, maybe a masterpiece. By staying on his grind, he’s certainly permitted himself to become attuned to a specific work ethic. It’s carried him throughout his whole career.

His focus on dense poetry and playful rhymes is what has gotten him this far. He will always be recognized as a top rhyme spitter and an elite rapper.

In this game of wannabes, has-beens, and those never quite made it, Cole stands at the top of the mountain still navigating his course to greatness.
