The Rig
Not Quite What I Expected By Rather Good

Introduction
I had heard good things about this series when it was on the BBC, then I saw it was the top series on Amazon Prime and thought I would give it a go. There are two series, and I am up to episode four on series one. This does mean I don't drop spoilers about how things end up, so here goes.
The Rig
I knew there were a lot of class actors in the series and was expecting something about the isolation of working on a North Sea Oil Rig and how it affected those on board.
I was expecting some natural disaster to affect the rig, and that happened early on, but then there were a lot of unexpected twists (some of which you see in the trailer) which I didn't expect.
It almost takes you into Lovecraftian horror as The Rig and its crew come under greater and greater pressure. There are revelations about the business owners that cause even more tensions, which split the crew.
I don't know how this ends, as even major characters are lost, but there is a second series.
So this has gripped me, if you like the genre, then this may be for you. The trailer gives a good taste of what it is about, far more than I can put into words.
As I say, it is on PRIME here but seems to have been dropped from BBC iPlayer
Thank you for reading, and at least check out the trailer, it may grab you.

I'm really into this series so far. The unexpected twists are great. I thought it'd be a typical rig drama, but the Lovecraftian horror angle is a nice surprise. It makes you wonder how they'll handle all the crew splits and character losses. Have you watched it? What did you think of the way it veered from the expected?
This show looks really interesting, Mike, thanks for sharing it with us.
