Why humans can't find aliens

The study of aliens has been around for a long time, with the earliest records even dating back to the Shanhaijing, and at first, it was considered a product of imagination.

But with the frequent occurrence of various mysterious events, many phenomena have become difficult to explain with modern science, so some people speculate that there may be an extraterrestrial civilization, but if this is true, why have humans never found aliens?

Why can't humans find aliens?

If we follow the hypothetical view proposed in "Three Bodies", the reason why humans cannot find aliens can be attributed to the law of the Dark Forest.

The Law of the Dark Forest refers to the struggle between two people who lack understanding and trust, and who fight by testing each other for self-preservation.

Applying this law to different civilizations can be interpreted as mutual suspicion caused by differences in concepts and ways of thinking, leading to different civilizations setting up "protective walls" to protect themselves and prevent invasion by foreign civilizations.

The universe is like a dark forest, where different civilizations are equivalent to different hunters, but after all, the resources in the forest are limited, and out of the instinct of survival, each hunter will put their interests first, and because they cannot understand the mindset of other hunters, they can only adopt a conservative attitude to hide their position, to avoid being attacked.

From this point of view, aliens are trying to hide their location, so for a long time, humans have not found them. But if alien civilizations exist, even if humans have not discovered them, why do they not pose a threat to us?

First of all, different civilizations are separated by a long distance, according to Fermi's paradox and Drake's equation, there are 2 million light years between the nearest two civilizations, while humans have experienced only a few thousand years since their birth, and it is difficult to discover each other.

Secondly, aliens have an unusual dimension, so there is no great interest in humans, as ants only know the front and back, and do not know the direction of advancement and up and down, even if they want to interfere through external forces, still can not change their behavior, they will simply feel that the world has suddenly changed.

Nowadays, however, a new theory has emerged in the scientific community to explain the inability to detect aliens, and this theory may be even crueler than the Dark Forest Law.

The Great Filter Theory

The Great Filter Theory, proposed by Robin Hansen to study the answer to the Fermi paradox, refers specifically to the paradox of research on aliens or interstellar travel.

Theoretically, humans could take a million years to travel to all the planets in the galaxy with the help of modern technology, so an alien civilization would likely have already entered Earth as long as it was earlier than that, leading to two paradoxes.

First, aliens must exist and it is not difficult to use scientific theories to find that alien civilizations predate human civilization, so they should be somewhere on Earth; second, aliens do not exist because no evidence proving their existence has been found yet.

Based on this, Robin Hansen proposed the Great Filter Theory. Filtration is very common in chemistry, and it refers to the elimination of unwanted substances with the help of external forces, and for the universe, the essence of human civilization, is the special substance born through filtration.

And all life is transformed from inorganic matter, from inorganic matter are organic, after many filters to form single-celled or multicellular organisms, the emergence and development of any living creature have had many filtering processes.

If so, Drake's formula does not apply, because Drake's formula is only theoretical and does not reflect the actual, so it seems that the only planet in the universe that can give birth to life is Earth. However, this does not mean that extraterrestrial life does not exist, only that the chances of human-like life existing in the universe are very low.

In addition, the universe also exists filter, although nowadays humans have been able to use technological capabilities to solve many natural disasters if faced with disasters from the universe, we are still powerless to fight, so do not rule out the possibility that there was another civilization appeared after being filtered by the universe.

Is it possible for an alien civilization to be discovered?

There are countless galaxies in the universe, and the Milky Way is only one of them, and the solar system is a small point of light in the galaxy, but even solar system, humans are unable to cross.

Some people say that there may have been high-level civilizations in the galaxy, and they should be in a core location because according to the different levels of civilization development, the energy in this location is more suitable for the birth of high-level civilizations. However, since humans are unable to cross the solar system, no answer has been found to corroborate this speculation.

If we take the physical quantification of cosmic space and combine it with probability calculations, then it is very likely that aliens exist. The reason why scientists study Earth-like planets today is, to a large extent, because such planets may exist in other life, and by the same token these planets that may be able to give birth to other life, are the ones that can exist in different civilizations.

According to Enrico Fermi's calculation, the probability of life on a planet is about 1%, and this figure also applies to Earth-like planets, that is, for every 100 planets in the universe, there may be a planet with an extraterrestrial civilization.

So it seems that human beings can find aliens, and as long as this rule is followed, it is believed that this goal will soon be achieved in the future.
