Samiira: A Light of the Qur’an

Samiira had always been in love with the Qur’an. From a young age, she would sit beside her grandmother, listening to the beautiful recitation that filled their home. She dreamed of one day becoming a teacher, guiding others in learning and memorizing the words of Allah. Every night before she slept, she would whisper a dua, asking Allah to make her dream come true.

Growing up, Samiira worked hard to memorize the Qur’an. She would wake up before Fajr, reciting quietly in the stillness of the morning, her heart finding peace in the verses. At school, she excelled in her Qur’anic studies, always eager to learn more about the meanings and tajweed rules. Her teachers often praised her dedication, and her classmates admired her ability to recite with such beauty and precision.

However, the journey was not easy. There were days when she felt overwhelmed, struggling to balance her studies and her Qur’an memorization. Some people even doubted her, saying, “Teaching Qur’an is difficult, and not everyone can do it.” But Samiira refused to give up. She reminded herself of the Prophet’s ﷺ words: "The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it." (Bukhari)

With the support of her family and teachers, Samiira completed her memorization after years of dedication. The day she finished her final revision, she fell into sujood, thanking Allah for allowing her to reach this moment. But her journey was not over—she now had to learn how to teach others.

She enrolled in a Qur’an teaching program, where she studied different methods of teaching tajweed, tafsir, and proper pronunciation. At first, she was nervous. “What if I’m not good enough? What if I make mistakes?” she thought. But as she stood in front of her first class of young students, she felt a deep sense of purpose.

She started with small lessons, teaching them how to pronounce letters correctly, then guiding them through short surahs. The joy in their eyes when they recited correctly made her heart fill with gratitude. Day by day, she became more confident, and her students flourished under her guidance.

One day, an elderly woman joined her class. She had never learned to read Qur’an properly and wanted to start now. Samiira patiently taught her, encouraging her every step of the way. After months of effort, the woman was finally able to read fluently. With tears in her eyes, she hugged Samiira and said, “May Allah bless you, my daughter. You have given me the greatest gift.”

Hearing these words, Samiira realized that her dream had truly come true. She was not just teaching the Qur’an; she was helping people connect with the words of Allah. It was a responsibility, an honor, and a lifelong mission.

Years later, Samiira opened her own Qur’an school, where students of all ages came to learn. She continued to teach with love and sincerity, knowing that every letter recited by her students would be a reward for her in this life and the next.

Her story became an inspiration for many young girls who, like her, dreamed of teaching the Qur’an. And every night, before she slept, she still whispered a dua—not for her own dreams, but for her students, that they too would one day become teachers of the Qur’an, spreading its light far and wide.
