Happiness

I Am Happy

By Sudais ZakwanPublished about 9 hours ago 3 min read

In the northern region of India, there was a beautiful and clean village called Tara Pur. This was at a time when the sun’s rising and setting painted the sky in golden hues, the sweet song of the koel bird filled the air, the cooing of pigeons and chirping of sparrows created a lively symphony, and women would carry pots to fetch water from the well. Farmers worked diligently in their fields, and everywhere, lush greenery stretched as far as the eye could see, making it appear as if someone had laid out a green carpet across the village. These simple, natural sights delighted the hearts of the villagers.

In this village lived a young girl named Khushi. True to her name, her behavior reflected happiness and purity. She was virtuous, kind-hearted, and straightforward. She treated everyone with love and gentleness, respected elders, and honored her ancestors. Besides completing her household chores, she would also help her neighbors with their work. Everyone in the village admired Khushi and often cited her as an example of a good and caring person.

At the time, Khushi was studying in the fifth grade. She attended school daily, leaving at seven in the morning and returning by twelve noon. However, one day, she was late returning from school, which caused her parents and family great concern. On her way back home, Khushi witnessed a distressing scene: some miscreants were brutally attacking an elderly, frail man, stealing his money bag and fleeing the scene. The street was not deserted; many people had seen the incident but remained silent spectators, too afraid to intervene. Seeing the helpless old man struggling in pain, Khushi’s heart filled with sorrow.

Without hesitation, Khushi took the injured man to the hospital and promptly contacted the police to report the incident. The miscreants had warned that anyone who informed the authorities would be killed. Yet Khushi, undeterred by the threat, displayed courage and took action.

The police arrived at the hospital, recorded the elderly man’s statement, and asked for descriptions of the attackers. Soon after, they left to pursue the criminals. Within a short time, the police arrested the wrongdoers, thanks to Khushi’s bravery and swift reporting.

Khushi remained at the hospital while her parents learned what she had done. They were filled with pride and happiness, knowing that their daughter’s courage had saved a life. The local police inspector personally thanked Khushi and praised her parents for raising such a brave child. They then took Khushi to meet the district collector, where she was honored as a courageous girl and awarded a gold medal.

Through her bravery, Khushi not only helped a helpless and elderly man but also won the hearts of the villagers and brought pride to her family. Her actions demonstrated that true courage often comes in small forms, and even young children can make a significant difference in society. Her story spread across the village, inspiring others to stand against injustice, protect the weak, and act with moral courage.

Khushi’s tale teaches us that happiness is not just about personal comfort or joy—it is also about bringing safety, hope, and relief to others. Her compassion and courage became a source of happiness not only for the old man she saved but also for her parents, her community, and herself.

True courage is not measured by age or strength, but by the willingness to stand up for what is right. Khushi’s bravery shows us that helping the helpless, even in the face of danger, brings real happiness and honor. Always act with kindness, protect those in need, and let your actions reflect integrity and compassion—because one small act of courage can change lives and inspire others to do the same.
