There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Death was whispered on every lip since the curse of the serpent fell on the clock master’s realm. “What is done can always be erased by the ticking cogs”, a bold and very real power that only the clockmaster possessed, until the villagers of the realm witnessed his demise. The only trouble is every villager I have interviewed has a radically different account of what occurred.
Good, whatever time it might be now, my name is Loch, and yes, I am a dragon. But don’t worry, I have no dragonly powers. I can neither fly nor breathe fire. I am also not very good with money, it’s a bit of a stereotype, by the way, that dragons always hoard. That’s just an fyi. Anyway, I am a reporter for the, well you don’t need to know who my boss is just yet, but I am here to find out exactly what happened to the clockmaster. Since his disappearance or death, I am still unsure on that one, no one from any realm has been able to undo a single deed they have done. Can you imagine? You can’t just walk around killing creatures anymore and fix it with a simple cog turn and a sorry.
I mean I have my own messes I would like to fix to be honest. But I am not the only one. This realm is crawling with creatures from every world to capture the lost power. I need to find an enchantress to change my look. Ever since I left the dragon world, I can’t get a single interview without someone screaming and throwing water on me. Don’t get me started with public transportation. At least I made it to the center of the Cog valley today with little upset.
I am to meet an enchantress here, but I was not given any detail on what she is supposed to look like. I mean she knows to look for a pretty small, human sized lizard. I didn’t want to use dragon in my magic profile for obvious reasons. I also told her I’d be wearing a purple hat, which I didn’t forget to bring! Go me. I got it, not on sale, because I deserve nice things sometimes. Oh, ok someone is staring at me. I’m gonna, what should I do? I am going to just kind of half smile and wait till approached. Yes, that’s it. No, nope not the person. Just scared them with my teeth. I thought I was being subtle, whatever.
I am basically telling you all of this because you are my diary, my little magical recording ball. In case anything happens to me a record of my works will always exist. I also see you as my tiny little imaginary friend that just listens, no judgement. You glow when you’re on too which is pretty soothing. Ok back to focusing. Maybe I should have chosen a less public place, there’s just every living creature out here. It smells, yeah it smells, and the other dragons out here are not making me look very good, blowing flames, eating random creatures, not making eye contact with me. I mean I don’t want anything to do with those jerks anyway. Always full of smoke. I have been meaning to leave the dragon realm for good for quite some time now. I just needed the right set up. My mom loves me and all but it’s time for Loch to move on. Oh, oh! Someone’s approaching me and that someone is glowing a little. Oh boy! Here comes my new look! Ow! What’s happening? I can’t see anything! What just happened? I… I’m blind!
