A little magic mouse

Auden Lynroth

By Auden LynrothPublished 7 months ago 1 min read

Did you know that somewhere in your house,

probably deep underground,

rests a little magical mouse?

Sleeping most of the time,

dreaming its life

through the centuries

But sometimes, if you are lucky, it'll awake,

rubbing the sleep from its face

with tiny paws that have withstood aeons of change.

It'll sniff around, picking up its black top hat off the ground,

ready to venture once more into the world of humans.

Why, you may ask?

Simple. It is on a mission.

A heist.

A thievery.

Getting a cookie is its ambition.

So when you hear a pitter-patter, but no rain is in sight,

it is probably the little footsteps of a mouse

about to steal chocolatey goodness from the house.

However, if you are ever so gracious and put out a plate,

it will simply take what is given,

staying near you, nibbling on crumbles,

telling the wildest stories—

about a world far from here,

full of magic and music,

and mice with top hats,

performing for cookies.
