It commenced with the river. People in town usually whispered that the river had secrets, dark ones, and which you shouldn’t move close to it after dusk. But I wasn’t one for believing in vintage better halves’ tales. I’ve continually been greater of a logical man or woman—never one to entertain the nonsense passed down via generations.

That night, though, something changed into exceptional.
