Ch. 1 The Ceremony

After the fall of the stars, the energy from the different stars that had fallen started to mix with the earth's energy creating what we now call magic. Magic now exists everywhere and in everything, changing the world and everything in it, living and nonliving. There are many different forms of magic. The magic has also enlarged and enriched the earth, making it now several times its previous size. The fall also brought about many dangerous and forbidden zones, making life harder even with the help of magic.

This story begins in the Vestel tribe, their use of magic was a little different from the rest of the world's. They learn the traditional use of magic like everyone else but the year they come of age, which is 16, their soul companion awakens. Soul companions are beasts that are linked with the people of the Vestel tribe from their birth. Each soul companion has their own element that influences their companion in different ways.

"Tomorrow's the day." Thought Lukas as he laid on the hill staring up at the starless sky while he fiddled with the heart-shaped locket around his neck. "You can't sleep either?" Asked Noah as he walked up the hill with Sara. Lukas sat up and gave a half smile before saying, "too much to think about for the ceremony." Noah nodded and sat next to Lukas, while Sara stood looking at them before saying, "What's the worst that can happen?" Sara was Noah's sister, she was a couple of years older than them, so she had already gone through her ceremony and she was fortunate that her soul companion was a 5 star ice scorpion. Sara was about 5'9" with sharp, cold blue eyes with short blond hair with light blue shading. She was definitely a beauty. "What kind of beast do you think you'll have?" Noah asked Lukas as they ignored the comment his sister just made. Lukas replied "I'm not sure." Noah looked at Lukas and felt that they were in the same boat. Both Lukas and Noah were at the top of their classes, physically and magically. They were always within the top 3 and were great in all the basic fields of magic.

"Rrooaa" "tssst" "awwwh". As the sun began to rise, you could hear the creatures began to wake. Though Lukas didn't get much sleep last night he was as ready for the day as he could be. He started towards the center of town. In route he stop at Noah's house to see if he had left yet. "Noah you're going to be late" yelled Sara as she saw Lukas walk up to the door. As Noah jumped from the second floor," ready to go". Sara shook her head before wishing them good luck as she returned to the house. Lukas and Noah continued towards the center of town, along the way they saw many of the others that were attending the ceremony.

Upon arriving outside of the place for the ceremony Lukas and Noah spotted Quinn, who was looking around impatiently. "About time you both get here." " Come on, let's go in ." Said Quinn as the boys approached her. The three walked in the building together. After entering they could see some people going through the ceremony, which was quite simple. For the ceremony all the members of the Vestel tribe had to do is to focus on the energy that has been inside of them since they were born and transfer that energy into one of the stone eggs to hatch their soul companion. The stones eggs come from the fallen star Vestelif. "So who's going to go first?" Asked Noah. "Why don't we all go up at the same time?" stated Lukas. They then walked up to the podiums and placed their hands on the stone eggs and focused on the energy in their body. As they focused the energy coming from the bodies radiated, Quinn gave off a purplish, golden aura, Noah gave off a blue and red aura, and Lukas gave off a white aura with a rainbow shade. After the flash of different energies died down, the stone eggs in front of each of them began to crack. From the stone egg in front of Quinn that gave off the purplish, golden aura came a small golden roc with purple lightning emitting from it. The stone egg that was in front of Noah melted away to reveal two identical baby dragons, the only difference between them being the eyes, one having blue eyes and the other having red eyes. Lukas's stone egg shattered to show a snow white wolf cub that has a pair of tiny horns growing on the top of its head and wings on it's back that were multi-colored at the tips.
