For Her, Thy Love

Good Directions

By Magnar ArnePublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Lustful winds with a aromatic spill of ocean salt fills my senses. The seas edge dances as the moon sheds it's spot light amongst the waves. As the splatter of small drips of spray reaches us setting a scene like no other for this night will be that night. That night I proclaim my heart to her.

Her eyes dark and mysterious yet soft and elegant, touching the center of my soul as I place her hand in mine. She smiles, oh such a smile makes heaven even feel transparent to how she make me die inside, longing for her. The wind messing her long brown hair as it flows through the nights breeze.

Looking her deeply in her eyes, I smirk so slightly. "What is it when the light catches the sparkle in your eyes that sends me to uncharted lands. That even when I am lost amongst it all, a single sigh lifts me towards the starry sky? It is in that moment my compass spins to each and every direction. But, once bounded, the needle points directly to you."

Her gaze loses mine as she looks downward for what feels as a eternity of silence. Looking back up slightly biting her lower lip she just smiles and kisses me passionately. My heart throbbing wildly from her kiss alone yet my mind weary that it may be a dream. She pushes me back gently, taking my hand in hers. and placing it upon her chest.

"And what is it, when you speak to me like a school boy in love that makes my heart beat in a arrhythmic rhythm that I feel as if my heart could succeed to stop at any minute? You are my sailor of the night in which his ship docks to my beckoning of him. I love you, don't you see?" She says as confidently with honesty emerging from her eyes.

My heart feels as if to stop by her very mention of love in me, I gaze downward swallowing to every sentence she makes about how she feels towards me. I look up dusting my boot in the sandy pier in which we stand upon. Smirking, I take her hand in mine. "If the moon can kiss the horizon and the stars dance amongst each other. I solemnly partake in you, my journey's traveled will be lead with my compass pointing home to you."

She chuckles, "You will always be close as long as I can still feel the warmth of your souls smile to mine."

I bend to bow and let out my hand to hers. She gracefully place hers in mine, I swirl her around grasping her within my arms. Her hair brushing against my cheek. I nuzzle my cheek upon hers and whisper, "not even heaven within earth or the seas could keep me parted from you." That's when I hear the loud chimes from the ships bow, "all aboard!"

She graps my arm as I release her to pick up my satchel of belongings. Her desperate gaze into my eyes burning into my heart, I crease her face placing a gentle kiss upon her soft lips. I stare into her eyes, "nor heaven within earth...."

I rush over to my ship as she watches me drift away into the mist and moonlight. How much I wanted to just leap from my ship to just hold her one last time. I hear the men in the engine room bellow start to shovel coal as we raised the anchor.

Seeing her watching from the shoreline I peer at my compass in which the needle is pointing towards her. We're about a kilometer from the shoreline when I make up my mind and leap from the bow of the ship. Diving deep in the icy water below, stroking my arms and kicking my legs back towards shore.

I gasp in some water when I yell out to her, "Not even the...." I gurgle water some as I grab the piers latter, "Sea....." I take a large breath and pull her into me. She wraps her arms around my soaking shoulders, taking me in deeply.
