Grandma Lily Is a Mystery
A family records Drabble
In the state archive of citizens' records:
"Hi, I'd like to find out something about my grandmother."
"Hi, sure, let's see. What's her name?"
"Grandma Lily."
"And? Last name?"
"Don't know. She's always been grandma Lily to me."
"Do you know her date of birth?"
"February 15. Or maybe 16."
"Year?"
"Have no idea."
"Is that your mom's mother?"
"Yes."
"Would she know her mom's information?"
"She would've. But she's dead."
Taking out a tarot deck, "This reading is to explore the energies surrounding grandma Lily..."
"Are you kidding me???"
"Please come back with your mother's birth certificate, at least."

She might learn from the reading…loved your Drabble! And I saw your your reply to Caitlin about based on real life event 🙃
Haha, this was great! I didn't expect a tarot card to appear, but it was a hilarious move.
💖The stakes were high in this. The stichomythia between these two over the phone was gripping. Information wasn't being released and the reason was even more heartbreaking as well as shocking when the person the information could be retrieved from is not there. This leaves a painful lacuna in the records.
Hahahahahhahahahaha I laughed when the tarot card came up! Loved this!
Ha! What a way to make a point.
That's one creative archivist!!! And cheeky too. Cool, Lana!
That last line is brutal. The deadpan escalation from paperwork to tarot made me laugh and then immediately feel bad about it. Excellent use of restraint!
