"Please keep your clothes on!"

Hayley was mortified as her flatmate decided that having come in from the pouring rain, she was going to disrobe infront of her in the lounge.

"Why? What's wrong?"

Suki was bemused and showed this in her wry smile.

"Do you have problems with nudity?"

Hayley was feeling very uncomfortable. She had no problem with her own nudity but other people's made her cringe. Suki had taken off most of her clothes.

"Please. Go to your room!"

Suki ignored her and was now naked. Hayley was furious.

Time to find another flat mate, she thought.

I would hate this. I know that some people are freer than others about body awareness but if someone did this to me, I would be like Hayley.

What about you?

I got the inspiration for this from this site:

The prompt was "Someone you know takes off all her clothes, right before your very eyes."

I would think the person very weird TBH!

Although like Mark, the community shower was a daily experience in the Army, I was never comfortable with it. I don’t even like taking off my shirt at the beach.

You ok? For what it's worth, I'd be fine with it.

  • Caroline Craven2 years ago

Nope. That’s a hard pass. I’m way too uptight and English for that!

I'm predictably British about this kind of thing. Remember very clearly being in Germany a few years ago (pre pandemic) when my eye was caught by a beach on the banks of the Rhine. Plenty of naked bathers and, oddly, a chap in a suit wandering along the footpath with his buddy, who was starkers. You can't tell me that isn't a bit awkward?

  • I'd hate it as well. I shared a hotel room with my colleague from work when we had a conference to attend and she did that me. But once I told her that I'm uncomfortable, she always warned me when she wanted to change so I'd look away

    I agree completely.

I once had a flatmate who would constantly just wander around in his underwear. Even worse he’d often ask me to crack his back for him…

Growing up in the Soviet Union, we only had hot water in our apt when it was cold outside and the building had the heating system on (the hot water was warming the radiators). In the warmer months, we had to boil the water for washing on weekdays and go to public bathhouses on the weekends. You cannot even imagine what shapes and forms and skin firmness women and girls come in. I’m totally fine with nudity and can tell how comfortable women are with their bodies just by how they behave naked.

Having been in the military with community showers and no such thing as privacy, I have no problem with it.

Guess it depends on the disrober. Wow, you're WAYYY ahead. I've got to get busy.

I'm all for people being comfortable with themselves but I'm a firm believer that privates are called that for a reason. Love yourself but keep some things to yourself, as well!

Truthfully...if a man did it...I'd hate it. But, similarly, for different reasons, depending on situation, I'd not really like it if a woman did it. Well written, Rachel. These quick-fire pieces before holidays are great!
