Normal Guy
A hero to himself
It isn't easy being a hero.
Ever since Allan Sherman had saved the world, wherever he went, he was flocked by fans asking for autographs.
Allan Sherman was 19 years old, and he'd been born with the unusual ability to fly and use telepathy. Using these powers, he'd managed to fight off the alien invasion that had attacked Earth a couple years back.
Unfortunately, saving the world meant that everybody wanted to be around him all the time.
Allan sighed and rubbed the back of his neck as he got out of bed. What I wouldn't give to be the same as everyone else... He thought sorrowfully as he walked over to the bathroom.
As he stared in the mirror, he examined his face. There were heavy bags under his eyes from lack of sleep, his brown hair was completely messed up, and his beard had grown longer since he hadn't shaved it in a while.
He continued to stare into the mirror for a while, until something inside of it seemed to shift, and suddenly darkness began to spread across the mirror, turning it into a black panel.
"Hello, Allan Sherman." Said a voice that seemed to have come from the other side of the mirror, echoing through the darkness. Allan yelped.
"I've been watching you for a long time now. I see it is your wish to be normal... and I can grant that wish." It went on.
That gave him pause.
"...What did you just say?" He asked cautiously.
"Step inside and find out..."
Allan stared deep into the darkness for a moment before taking a deep breath and stepping inside.
Being a hero meant saving people, right?
Well, Allan was saving himself from a life of misery.
...
...He stepped inside.

An unusual twist for the challenge! Nicely done.
