Ronaldo and Kids

Why School Kids Love Cristiano Ronaldo So Much

By Bilal MohammadiPublished 7 months ago 3 min read

In a small village nestled between green hills and dusty roads, lived a ten-year-old boy named Hamid. He was tall for his age, with curious eyes and a constant smile that lit up the classroom. Like every other kid in his school, Hamid had one big dream — to meet Cristiano Ronaldo, the football legend he watched on his uncle’s old television.

Every afternoon after school, Hamid and his friends would gather at the dusty field behind the school building. Their ball was old and patched with tape, but it didn’t matter. They took turns being “Ronaldo,” imitating his signature moves, copying his celebrations, and even practicing his free kicks using old water bottles as goalposts.

Hamid wore the same white jersey every day — number 7, "Ronaldo" written on the back with a black marker. Though it wasn’t original, it was his treasure.

One Friday morning, something strange happened. Their teacher, Mr. Kareem, entered the classroom with a wide smile.

“Children,” he said, “I have a surprise for you. There’s a football tournament in the city next week, and our school has been invited to join.”

The class erupted in cheers.

“But,” Mr. Kareem continued, “we only have space for six players. So we’ll hold trials tomorrow.”

Hamid’s heart pounded with excitement. He practiced all evening with his best friend Samir, dreaming of scoring goals in front of a crowd.

The next day, the trial was intense. Dozens of boys showed up, all eager to represent the school. Hamid played his heart out. He dribbled past defenders, passed smartly, and scored two beautiful goals. When the final six names were announced, his name was first on the list.

The week passed quickly, and soon the team traveled to the city. For most of the kids, it was their first time leaving the village. When they arrived at the tournament venue, Hamid’s eyes widened. The stadium was massive, filled with banners, music, and hundreds of kids from different schools.

Hamid’s team didn’t win the tournament, but he played brilliantly. His speed, his passion, and his celebration — just like Ronaldo’s famous “Siiiu!” — caught everyone’s attention.

At the end of the event, a man in a suit approached Mr. Kareem.

“Your player number 7,” the man said, “is impressive. He plays with heart.”

“Hamid?” Mr. Kareem replied with a smile. “He dreams of becoming like Ronaldo.”

The man nodded. “I work with a foundation that supports young football talent. And… we might have something special for your team.”

A month later, a letter arrived at the school, stamped with a golden star and the logo of a famous international sports foundation. The letter invited Hamid and his team to a special event in the capital — a football workshop with international coaches… and a surprise guest.

The day finally came. The team boarded a big bus and traveled for hours. When they arrived at the stadium, they were led inside a large hall where dozens of children sat eagerly.

Suddenly, the lights dimmed, and a spotlight shone on the stage.

And there he was.

Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real, smiling, and walking onto the stage like a dream come true.

The hall exploded in cheers. Some kids cried, some jumped in joy, and Hamid just froze, his eyes wide with disbelief.

Ronaldo greeted the kids warmly. He shared stories of his childhood, his struggles, and how he trained every single day. He talked about kindness, teamwork, and chasing dreams. Then he stepped down and walked through the crowd.

Hamid didn’t know what to say when Ronaldo stood in front of him.

“Is that my jersey you’re wearing?” Ronaldo asked with a laugh.

Hamid could only nod.

Ronaldo knelt beside him and said, “You play well. I saw the videos. You’ve got talent, kid. Keep working hard.”

Then he handed Hamid a signed football and whispered, “Never stop dreaming.”

That night, Hamid couldn’t sleep. He held the signed ball close to his chest, tears of happiness in his eyes.

From that day on, the village changed. The dusty football field got new goalposts. The kids had better balls and jerseys. And Hamid? He became the captain of his school team, inspiring others like Ronaldo had inspired him.

Though many years passed, and life moved on, the memory of that moment — of standing face to face with his hero — stayed with Hamid forever.

Because sometimes, all it takes is a hero, a jersey, and a dream to change a child's life.

Moral of the story:

Even the smallest dreams, when touched by kindness and inspiration, can grow into something unforgettable. Just like Hamid, many children around the world carry Ronaldo in their hearts — not just as a footballer, but as a symbol of hope.
