A life changing experience

By Unwritten ChaptersPublished 10 months ago 4 min read

Two months ago my grandmother died. The doctors say she died because of a natural cause , because she was too old. But honestly I DONT BELEIVE THAT. I don't know why but i feel like that doctor was lying to my family and I. Yes my granny was 75 but some live up to 100 years and you cannot expect to believe that my grandma died out of a natural cause.

Well I'm Annie Martins and welcome to my life. My grandmother was my best friend her passing left me devastated, i felt like i lost my other half was taken away from me . My granny and i used to do everything together like crocheting and baking. I was even thinking of opening a clothing business online as a hobby after school, but all of those dreams came to an end two months ago. My best friend Alexis says that i should move on from this and accept the fact that my gran gran is gone but i just cant OKAY! No one believes me but i can feel it in my heart that my grandmother did not die from natural causes.

One day after school I was sitting in my granny's room, because I mostly lived with my gran gran since my parents are always working. Ever since gran gran left I have been lonely since my parents do not have time for me. Seeing her room makes me think about the good old days. Alexis was there with me since my parents said that i cant go out since my grades have dropped after gran gran's passing. The only thing my knows how to say is ''Annie your grandmothers passing shouldn't be an excuse for your behavior''. But honestly i don't care until i get the truth i do not care about anything else in life . It would be nice if mom was there for me more .

As Alexis was telling me about her new crush I noticed a strange box under gran gran's desk. I went and too the box . When i opened it there were letters, and it was my granny's handwriting. Gran gran did love writing and was bit of a story teller. Alexis and i were both shocked, how did gran gran not tell me about these letters. So I decided to read those letters, maybe those letters will give me the closure that i so desperately need. Alexis was also eager to know what those letters were about.

The letter said,'' Dear Annie my sweet granddaughter if you are reading this I probably looking at you from the heavens above. It was not my intention to leave you and i want you to know that i am extremely proud of you. I want you to know that i love you so very much. I also want you to know that I want you step out of your comfort zone and embrace who you truly are without me there. I love you Annie.'' I read it to Alexis as tears rolled down my eyes. But there was a second letter.

It said '' Annie I want you to know that i am leaving you with one million dollars. I want you to carry on your dream of having a clothing store without me there. I stashed the money under my bed at my old house. Just know that your Armani wanted that money for himself that's why he does not like you. He even tried poisoning me. I bet he will try something to kill me. Make sure that he does not know the location of the money and make sure you are safe''

I knew it , I knew that grandma didn't did of natural causes. I tried calling dada but he did not answer so i left him a voicemail and Alexis went her house and i went to det my money and proof that uncle Armarni was the one who killed grandma. I took a taser and pepper spray just in case.

When I got I went straight to granny's room but I found a strnge bottle on the floor. I picked it up using a glove and saw a label, and the name of that strange bottle was a name of a medicne that is used to kill someone then makes it seem as if they died naturally, granny and I loved watching murder mysteries together. So maybe uncle Armani put this in granny's soup last family gathering . I put the bottle in my bag and went to kitchen to see if there was anymore evidence but uncle Armani was there. I was so scared , he then took me and tied me up. He told me to tell him where the money was or else he was going to kill me. I didn't care about death because granny was gone and i was not going to let gran gran's money land in the hands of her murderer.

Luckily dad came with the cops because he actually listened to my voicemail for the first time ever. I gave the cops the bottle and letter and they arrested uncle Armani and said that he was going to be locked up for a very long time. Armani ,'' I hate you Annie''.

I was so happy that I finally got the closure that i needed and that dad actually came through for me. Dad finally saw his mistakes and mom too and they said that they going to be present in my life more.

A YEAR LATER

I am doing this memorial service to remember and honor my gran gran. Thank you so much granny for all the great memories and life lessons and the money too. Today my business is thriving and i owe that all to my gran gran. I love you granny.

Her love was never in those grand farewells, but in every line drawn by the pen tip on the letter paper, in every little thing she thought of for us, and even after she left, in the lingering warmth of her body temperature still lingering on our fingertips.

Wow… what a rollercoaster of emotion and suspense. Annie’s pain felt so real, and the twist with the hidden letters and the truth about Uncle Armani gave me chills. I love how it went from grief to empowerment—starting a clothing business in honor of her gran gran was the perfect tribute. This story had heart, mystery, and justice. I'd definitely read more from you. Please keep writing!
