The Lie, The Witch And The Warden
Payments For Services Rendered
She stood in the window, curtains wafting in the breeze. A dim yellow light flickered in the corner, casting a familiar, shadowy silhouette.
He remembered seeing that shadow before.
When he was a young boy. His grandfather, worked as the warden of the local prison. He would tell him tales about a witch, and the time he tricked her out of a special gift.
She warned his grandfather, that in time, she would return, to take back what was hers.
He never really understood what that meant, until tonight.
Had she come for him? Restitution for his grandfather’s sins?

Wow , nicely done
Ooooo, this reminded me of a local witch here in Malaysia. Her name was Mona Fandey. She was prisoned for dismembering a politician into 18 pieces. She was executed in 2001. Her last words were 'I will never die'. So the return of the witch in your story reminded me of her. You did a fantastic job!
You're on a roll with these, as usual, Kelli! Love your keen eye and mind for a twist and love the play on the title :)
Another one done extremely well!
Love the title twist.

And the sins of the fathers shall be visited upon their children. (Exodus 34:7) Of course, other scriptures contradict this sentiment. But then, what does that matter to a witch?
oh. This is great. Grandpa was a bad man.
