The Shadow Strikes No More

Spooky Micro Fiction Writing Challenge

By Canuck Scriber Lisa LachapellePublished about a year ago 1 min read

There was only one rule: don't open the door. Some doors are meant to be closed or something might get out.

When darkness meets the daytime the risen factor is, will the ghost see beyond the borders of humanity? It already knows since it is hiding in the shadows. It needs no whips, no chains, for those are the implements of lower human nature and shadow is far beyond that, even lower, if you can imagine that! Instead, it reaches its mark on humanity differently.

The human essence...how it strives for spiritual discovery. How it leaves itself open to anything unless that discovery is centred in faith.

The interloper to the house this time chimed his entrance, the hallways echoed in a weird reverberance with each step he took. The earth almost shook.

The standstill had begun but not for long. The shadow in waiting had stayed the torment for an awful length of time.

The shattered half, the infinite heart, the narcissist stepped out from the curtain of existence. Evil introduced itself well to its other half, opened the door and in one swoop, took the other down. The sun shone no more on the door.

Our inner struggle of good and evil is never ending. And sometimes we do let evil reign.
