Routine. Busy. Unappreciated. Claire Johnson’s day began like any other—frying pancakes, packing lunchboxes, and juggling a call to her kids’ caregiver.

“Could I pick them up half an hour later? Thanks so much!” she said, rushing out the door.

A neighbor waved as she drove off. “Claire, could you make muffins this weekend?” Claire quickly nodded.

Amid the busyness, Claire wished for one thing—a hug.

While cleaning the attic, Claire stumbled upon a locked trunk. Inside was a bizarre suit: spandex with a vacuum cleaner arm, a snack dispenser leg, and a cape that doubled as a drying rack. Curious, she tried it.

“Oh no!” She accidentally activated the vacuum, sucking in the family cat’s tail and flinging cookies across the living room.

“This thing needs a manual,” she grumbled.

When a neighbor’s dog escaped one evening, Claire donned the suit to give chase. She fell with a thud and bumped her head, but finally wrangled the dog in the cape.

Just like that, Claire the Supermum was born.

The suit made life easier—sometimes. The snack dispenser bribed her rambunctious son, though it jammed under his bed. The cape tangled as she hung laundry.

The acid test came with Mr. Mundane, a councilman who aimed to make the neighborhood run-of-the-mill. He replaced the playground slide with a stone bench and the pond with bushes.

At the town carnival, Mr. Mundane disrupted a pie-eating contest, flinging pies at children.

“Aha! Here’s my chance to ruin the fun,” he sneered.

Claire quickly donned her suit, sending cotton candy to the bawling kids. Mr. Mundane, thwarted, vanished.

“Our hero!” the moms cheered.

Claire returned to her routine, the suit boosting her confidence. The vacuum still misfired, but her kids hugged her anyway.
