It seems like TikTok users are not happy with the celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton after he used his blog and social media channels to express his opinion about the famous stars of TikTok, which is generally used by the Generation Z. A petition has been created by netizens aiming to remove Hilton from TikTok. This petition came shortly after Hilton commented on a TikTok video of Charli D'Amelio, who is currently the biggest star on the short-form video platform. The backlash that Hilton has received following his comments about D'Amelio explains why most of the lifestyle bloggers stay away from talking about the app's users.

The majority of TikTok's user base is formed by teenagers who are below 18 years of age. However, that didn't deter the 42-year-old celebrity journalist to speak his mind regarding D'Amelio's TikTok video. Many of the app's users have said that they found Perez Hilton's remarks quite ‘creepy.’ On April 21, Charli D'Amelio's fans created a petition on Change.org in an effort to get Hilton permanently banned from TikTok. In its description, the petition mentions that: “Perez Hilton is SCARY. Plain and simple. He is currently 42 years old and attacks young teenagers (15 years old) for wearing BATHING SUITS. He is problematic and spreads negativity on the app, TikTok. His whole career is based on creating drama - which is something we seriously don't need right now. Perez is a middle-aged man and earns a living by attacking young kids for just having fun. CANCEL HIM, or at least BAN HIM from Tiktok.”

As of now, the viral Change.org petition targeting Hilton has garnered about 100,000 signatures and is roughly 50,000 signatures away from achieving its target of 150,000. This entire controversy surrounding D'Amelio and Hilton started on March 3, when he commented on one of D'Amelio's TikTok videos. In the video, the 15-year-old TikTok star is basically just dancing on a beach wearing a bikini while she was on a vacation in the Bahamas. The song that she was dancing to is called ‘Sugar,’ which is sexual in nature. “Anyone else thinks it's inappropriate for a 15-year-old to dance to this?” wrote Hilton in the comments section of the video. D'Amelio then replied to him by saying: “I'm sorry I'm just trying to have fun! :).”

Soon after he commented on her TikTok video, D'Amelio's fans started attacking Hilton for ridiculing her video. One fan wrote: “Imagine coming after a 15-year-old trying to have fun.” He replied to the fan by saying that he wasn't trying to judge D'Amelio for dancing in a bikini, but instead “questioned D'Amelio's parents' decisions.” He further added: “ I wish I looked that good in a bikini at 15.” On March 5, Hilton was forced to do a YouTube live-stream session explaining his comments after being continuously bashed by her followers. “These people still are letting me have it over me asking a question on the biggest TikToker of the moment's account when she did a video earlier this week gyrating, moving in an adult way to a song about taking big D. All I asked was, is it appropriate of her to be doing this? My main issue was with her parents, not her,” said Hilton during his YouTube live-stream. Shortly after his live-stream ended, D'Amelio sent out a tweet from her account replying to Hilton's remarks. “I will continue to post when I feel happy and confident so if me wearing a swimsuit at the beach is a problem well sucks to suck doesn't it,” wrote D'Amelio in her tweet.

A few days after explaining his stance on D'Amelio using YouTube, he decided to upload a video to TikTok regarding the platform's superstar. He clearly said in his video that he doesn't regret at all making statements about the ‘sexual’ music clip and her dance steps. He also said that Charli is an amazing girl and that his actual problem is with her parents.
