Melissa Claire Egan: She's Back!

Melissa Claire Egan recently sought out the advice of her followers when trying to determine a new look. The actress portrays Chelsea Newman on The Young and the Restless but has been on maternity leave for a number of months. Egan is scheduled to return to the screen on Tuesday, December 14, and will be sporting her new doo.

Egan asked if she should get a 1980s perm, cut her hair short, or dye it another color. Her followers gave her their advice but one voice clearly had more swaying power than the others. Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke on The Duke's of Hazzard) portrays Chelsea's television mother Anita Lawson. She suggested that Egan go blonde like her TV mom and that's just what she did. In the cover photo, you can see Melissa's hair is lighter and straighter than before. She did not say whether or not this would be temporary or permanent.

The Young and the Restless: Chelsea Lawson is a hot mess

Chelsea debuted on The Young and the Restless on September 11, 2011 as mystery woman who was involved in Billy Abbott's (Jason Thompson) arrest in Myanmar. Ms. Lawson was a grifter who sold herself to the highest bidder and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) hired her to seduce his son in law after getting him drunk. Billy had been put in jail on fake charges because Victor wanted to keep him away from his daughter Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle).

Billy was able to get out of jail and return to Genoa City with his tale of woe. Not long after, Chelsea showed up saying she was prfegnant with is child, Thsi caused problems for Billy and Victoria but eventually they sorted the entire mess out. Vickie and Billy officially adopted the son Chelsea gave birth to who is now called Johnny Abbott and he knows nothing about his birth mom.

Chelsea moved on to Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and gave birth to his son Conner Newman. She also dated his brother Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) but later went back to Adam. Chelsea faked paralysis because she saw Sharon Newman Rosales (Sharon Case) and Adam kissing and refused to believe they did not have sex. She cannot get over the bond that is between Shaddam but there will be a new rival when she returns home.

The Young and the Restless: The Sally Spectra effect

Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) has set her sights on Adam and even tried befriending Conner in an attempt to appear to have a matrnal instinct. Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) is caught between Chelsea who is her best friend and Sally who she is just getting to know. Chloe does not like Adam but has no choice in working for him because she needs a job. Sally has been waiting for Chelsea to return from caring for Anita who fell and broke her hip so she can officially size up her competition.

Spoilers have been saying for months that sparks will fly between Chelsea and Sally and that Chloe will be caught in the middle. Adam will probably sit back and laugh as these women fight over him because his heart truly belongs to Sharon. Some Y&R viewers have been waiting for the day Sally and Chelsea meet in person and that day is upon us. Both women will no doubt be defensive as eacxh has heard a lot about her rival.

The Young and the Restless: Chloe is in the hot seat

Spoilers say Chelsea will ask Chloe what she missed while she was away and this will put her friend in an awkward position. Although Chloe has shared a few things about Sally working for Newman Media's Fashion Division she has not said too much about Ms. Spectra's designs on Adam. Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) will want his parents to get back together and this will put everyone on edge. Be sure to tune in for Chelsea's return to Genoa City and also to see Melissa Claire Egan's new hair style.
