"There was only one rule: don’t open the door.”
The game was called "Mind Games...Do You DARE". Jumanji-like in nature, we all knew what could possibly occur...MAYBE!
No one expected the game to actually come to life. But it did. I was the only one left alive to tell the tale.
"Why were you all in the forest. Why did a board game need to be played in the woods...and whose idea was that"?
The officer stared at me with eyes which belied his guarded words. He totally believed that I was guilty. Maybe I am. If only I could remember exactly what had happened last night, I told them.
But I did remember. I remember everything. I was the new guy, they voted me to play last. Totally fine by me.
Each player had a game piece "Don't open the door". It was the only rule. But as with gamers...all they wanted to do was find out what was behind that door!
We all took turn playing.
"Now, time to open the door. All in agreement...place your game piece on the gameboard".
One by one, Jamie, Karla, Marly, David, JJ, Mysty and...Kyrsty, placed our pieces....NOTHING HAPPENED!
The forest shifted...A door appeared out of thin air.
Startled, the players tried to run. The trees changed...the limbs became gnarled...weird entities came to life.
One by one the players were dragged into the abyss beyond the door, I stood watching, my face etched in a pleasing smile.
God...how they screamed in terror as the blood-thirsty beasts devoured them. I licked my lips...remembering.
"I need you to show us where it all happened...we found no evidence of any crime".
"Ok, but bring a game along, maybe it will help". I replied...innocence and tears on my face.

Such a clever idea to use jumanji as your inspiration for this entry. I love the evil ways of the main character and how the evil started through being voted to play last. The game piece being called ‘don’t open the door’ was a pleasant surprise, I loved that, very creative and thoughtful. This had my energy up, wanting to know what would happen after each line. Very well written.
I hope they get Jumanji-ed. I do love a wicked forest. Good one.
