‘The Return of the Pumpkin Rabbit’ is an Animated Cartoon that is Absolutely Terrifying

Cartoons never scare me, but I literally felt my soul leave my body during this story…

I’m not sure if any of you have heard of a cartoon/analog horror on YouTube known as The Walten Files, but damn, does everyone need to watch this standalone story known as The Return of the Pumpkin Rabbit.

The story follows a group of kids on Halloween who are curious to investigate a house called, 'The Murder House.' The house was owned by a couple known as the Waterson's, who were allegedly burned to death by the town for their crimes of killing children.

The group of kids (the kids are actually animals) decide to explore the house on Halloween, but they don’t realize what sort of horrors await inside of the house…and damn…it ends up turning into a fight for survival.

The kids find out the hard way that the story of the couple getting burned alive wasn't exactly true.

They are both indeed alive, and they are thrilled to have children enter their home. The Waterson's are a sheep and a rabbit, (yes, a sheep and a rabbit) who terrorize these poor children. And damn, these deaths do not hold back. One of the few scenes that broke me was when one kid refused to enter the house.

He made all of the smart decisions, and he is the first one to die. The pumpkin rabbit appears to him, and the way he walks toward him is nightmare fuel. He walks like a freaking scarecrow, pretending to be one as he chases after the kid.

Man, if I had seen that in real life, I would have shat myself.

The poor kid is caught by the pumpkin rabbit, and his face is torn apart as his killer is laughing. It’s horrible to watch, and the video literally lingers on the kid's torture as the scene cuts to the main kid in the group. The main kid even hears his friend screaming in pain outside, before his screams suddenly stop.

This entire sequence is the scariest by far, and is executed to perfection.

What’s even scarier is how calm the killer is the whole time. His voice is so damn soothing, but I guess he used that to his advantage, going after his prey. He only sounds insane when he is killing or torturing a kid, and it's the only time the audience gets to see his calm demeanor change.

Another kid is killed by his wife offscreen, and he dies in fear as he begs for the sheep to let him out of the house. (Voice actor did a phenomenal job here, similar to the other actor who voiced the kid who died first).

There are only two kids left, and they stand together to escape and fight the evil couple. When the kids are eventually caught by the couple, the main kid saves her friend from the pumpkin rabbit, knocking off his rabbit face, which turns out to be a mask.

I loved that little twist at the end of the story with the two final survivors, who realize the rabbit is actually wearing a mask. Dude was a wolf the whole time, which I found so interesting, knowing that his wife was a sheep.

I guess you could say…the sheep was actually in wolf’s clothing?

Man, that attempted joke sounds awful.

The story ends with the main kid defeating the evil couple, and the Waterson's are ripped apart by the children they murdered, dying the same way like how they had killed them.

Now, doesn't that sound like a lovely story to show the kids during Halloween season?

I’m sorry for anyone who gets scared of this shit. Warning: Do not watch this cartoon at night. Trust me, that pumpkin rabbit and his sheep wife will scare the absolute crap out of you.

This sounds seriously messed up! The idea of those animal kids exploring the 'Murder House' is already creepy. And that part where the pumpkin rabbit chases the kid and tears his face apart? Brutal. Made me wonder how you'd make a horror story like this into a game. Any ideas?
