The Whispers

Mysterious whispers from Mysterious people

By Jane SmithPublished 4 years ago 4 min read

The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Angelica, only being 15 years old, did not know about this strange occurrence. She was rather mourning for her mother's killing.

“The suspect for the tragic murder of Ms. Robinson is yet to be identified and brought forth,” said the news reporter that was assigned to talk about the case. “We will be live tomorrow night to witness the suspects of this shameful murder.”

Sighing, Angelica began to turn off the T.V. She stood up from where she was sitting and decided to go take a walk in the forest right next to her house . She used to enjoy taking walks with her mom whenever she was stressed out or her dad wasn't home. Now she felt lonely without her mom and her comforting presence.

“Where are you going, sweetie” said her dad, as she was opening the front door to her house. Looking at her dad, all Angelica could see was the tiredness of his eyes and the misery on his face. Like herself, he was mourning too.

“I was going to take a walk around our forest dad. I won't be gone for long.”

“Ok. But come back before dinner. I ordered takeout” said her dad, as he stumbled off back to his office.

Angelica closed the door to her house and took the small path to the forest. She was feeling guilty for taking a walk without her mom. It was the thing they loved to do most.

Halfway inside the forest, Angelica heard a moaning sound coming from behind a tree. She turned around, heart racing, and came closer to the tree.

As soon as she came closer, the noise mysteriously stopped. She was too frightened to find out what was behind that tree. Shuddering, she walked away.

But before she could leave, she was suddenly pulled down to the floor! She tried to struggle but there was a presence holding her down. She suddenly felt something breathing against her neck. Angelica tried to scream but nothing came out of her mouth. She looked around wildly to see who was doing this to her. But she could not apprehend what was waiting for her later.

With a final struggle, she shoved what was holding her down and ran deep inside the forest. She could hear the pacing footsteps of someone or something across the midsummer autumn leaves.

She finally saw a log cabin not far from where she was standing. She sprinted the last few feet and went inside the small log cabin. The door had no lock, so she leaned against it.

Angelica had no idea where she was or who was following her. She decided to take her back off the door and put a chair she found against it. She was sweating and she felt hungry. She had to get out of here.

“Bang!”

Angelica flew back from the door as she heard the pounding coming from behind the door. She realized she had to get out of here and tell her dad about everything.

“Angelica. It's me, honey. Open the door.”

Her dad's voice sounded weird coming from behind the door. Wait. How did he get here? Did he hear her scream? But that wasn't possible. Angelica tried to scream before but she couldn't. Then how did he find her?

“Bang!”

“Angelica, open the door now!”

Judging by her dad's voice, she could tell he was starting to get angry. She went to the door to open it.

“Angeeeeelicaaaaaa.”

Angelica could hear someone whispering her name. She had no idea who it was but she knew it was coming from one of the many doors in the cabin. She decided it was time to investigate.

Angelina walked up to a door that looked old and aged. She put her ears close to the door so she could hear the whispers. Sure enough, the whispers was coming from this door.

“Angelica! Open this door now!”

Ignoring her father, Angelica twisted the handle and found out it was open. So, she let herself in as a last resort.

As soon as she walked in, she was overcome with a foul stench that filled up her nostrils. She gagged and began to plug her nose with her fingers.

The room she was in was very dark and the only source of light she could find was a candle. She lifted the candle and began to search around the room.

In the middle of the room, she found a queen-sized bed with pillows and mattresses. The bed was cleaned up as if someone was there not long ago. She began to search around the bed when her foot bumped against a heavy object underneath the bed.

Looking down, Angelica could see a being lying not too far from the bed. She did not want to touch the person, fearing it would cause her harm. She instead, closed the camera on the person's face.

The candle fell away from her hand unto the ground. Angelica then covered her mouth with her shaky hand. There was her mother, lying on the floor with her throat cut out.

“Oh, I see that you found your mom's body. I should have kept it hidden well.”

Angelica's blood went cold as she turned around. She could see her father's outline in the dark. He was carrying what looked like an ax smeared with blood. She looked into his eyes and all she could see was hatred and murderous intent.

“Don't worry sweetie,” her father chuckled. “You'll join her soon as possible”.

Then her mothers murderer closed the door, drowning Angelicas frightening screams.
