Remember Your Rulership

Living in the Authority and Identity of Christ

One of the most overlooked truths among believers is our God-ordained rulership. Many Christians live beneath their spiritual inheritance, unaware that they have been called not just to survive, but to reign. The Kingdom of God isn’t just about going to heaven; it’s about living with authority, dominion, and responsibility here on earth—right now.

Let’s explore the spiritual reality of your rulership through the lens of Scripture.

1. Created for Dominion

“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion…’”

Genesis 1:26 (NKJV)

From the moment of creation, humanity was given dominion—a word that means "rulership" or "governance." This wasn’t just authority over animals and nature; it represented God's intent for humans to reflect His character and extend His will on earth. Dominion is not domination—it's leadership through godly stewardship.

Reflection:

Are you ruling over your environment, emotions, decisions, and time? Or are they ruling you?

2. Sin Distorted, Christ Restored

When Adam sinned, humanity lost the purity of that dominion. Instead of ruling with grace, mankind became ruled by sin, fear, and death.

“For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace... will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”

Romans 5:17 (NKJV)

Through Christ, our lost rulership is restored—not just for the afterlife, but “in life.” This means you can rule over sin, anxiety, fear, and darkness through Christ’s power.

Application:

Speak God’s Word over your circumstances.

Exercise spiritual authority in prayer.

Reject lies that tell you you're powerless.

3. Rulership Comes with Identity

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people…”

1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)

God doesn't call you a sinner trying to be saved. He calls you royal, holy, chosen. Your identity fuels your authority. You’re not just forgiven—you’re positioned. A priest ministers before God; a king governs. As a royal priest, you do both.

“As He is, so are we in this world.”

1 John 4:17 (NKJV)

Reflection:

Do you view yourself as royalty in Christ? Or are you still identifying with your past failures?

4. Seated in Heavenly Places

“And raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus…”

Ephesians 2:6 (NKJV)

This is not poetic language—it's a spiritual reality. When you are “seated in Christ,” it means you share in His authority. You are above the powers of darkness, not beneath them.

This spiritual position gives you:

Power over demonic attacks

Wisdom in chaotic situations

Peace in times of trial

Application:

Stop begging God for what He’s already empowered you to walk in.

Pray with the confidence of one who is seated in heavenly places.

5. Ruling With Christ in the Age to Come

“And have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.”

Revelation 5:10 (NKJV)

“If we endure, we shall also reign with Him…”

2 Timothy 2:12 (NKJV)

Your rulership doesn’t end in this life—it extends into eternity. The faithfulness you show now prepares you for future authority in the Millennial Kingdom and beyond.

We are being trained now to reign then. The trials you endure are not without purpose—they are shaping a ruler.

Reflection:

Are you living with eternity in mind? Are you faithful in the small things so God can entrust you with greater?

6. Reign Through Righteousness

True rulership is not prideful or self-serving. It is grounded in the character of God.

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice…”

Proverbs 29:2 (NKJV)

Your rulership is righteous leadership—through compassion, justice, love, and wisdom. You lead in your family, workplace, ministry, and community not through force, but through spirit-led influence.

Conclusion: Take Your Place

It’s time to remember your rulership. The devil wants you to forget it because a Christian who knows their authority is dangerous to the kingdom of darkness. Walk in your identity. Exercise your authority. Declare the Word. Live from your seat in heavenly places.

“Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?”

1 Corinthians 6:3 (NKJV)

You are not a beggar at God’s table—you are a co-heir with Christ. Rulers don’t retreat. They rise, speak, govern, and serve.

Prayer Declaration:

"Father, I thank You that You have called me a royal priest, seated in heavenly places with Christ. I take my place of authority today. I walk in dominion over sin, fear, and every dark power. I declare that I am not a victim, but a ruler in Christ Jesus. Empower me to reign in life and represent Your Kingdom on earth. In Jesus' name, Amen."
