A Blessing in Disguise
A Blessing in Disguise by Andie J.

Atlanta Georgia's Channel 44 news arrived as the ribbon cutting ceremony commenced with the newly created homeless community center's founder Amir Star. He is now walking up to the podium to tell his inspirational story.
Amir:
My name is Amir Star. I'm 20 years old and am an Atlanta native. I was born into homelessness due to both of my parents dying from overdosing on drugs. I was raised by a family friend, Jasmine, who raised me like I was her own. She taught me how to navigate the world as a young gifted artistic black man.
Initially I used my gift to create art to express my feelings about the life I could have lived if my parents were still alive. I made beautiful masterpieces out of scraps that most people would think are trash. One day, I found a little black book with the front cover titled “Believe it and You will achieve it” in the trash cans behind Little Five Points. This little black book became my sketchbook to showcase my artwork to Jasmine and anyone that would stop to listen. I would ask people walking and driving by for money to buy better art supplies for my work which one day I could sell and have enough money saved up to buy Jasmine and myself a house a place we could call home. God had other plans.
After 60 days of drawing in my book, I got to the last page where my parents left a note: “Amir this book was created with the love of your parents one day to have the ability to write your own amazing story. Our lucky numbers 04 06 12 13 53”.
I ran and showed Jasmine the lucky numbers and asked her what I should do with them. She told me to play the lottery. I ran all over town playing my parents' numbers hoping one of them would win.
After a week of playing the lottery I became a winner. The game was called “Bingo” because no matter where the numbers lie you will either win or lose. I ran to the homeless shelter where Jasmine and I were staying. I yelled Jasmine we won. We can buy the life we always wanted. Jasmine laughed and said money is the root of all evil you have to give back to the community that raised you and to never be selfish. Jasmine I won $444 million dollars and the first thing I am going to buy is a house for you and I to live in. I bought an old ford factory and made it into a community center and shelter for the homeless.
Channel 44 news anchor:
Amir said Jasmine was sent by God, it also seems that the little black book Amir Star found was a blessing in disguise. Without that book, he would have never had the lucky numbers to win Bingo or promote his artwork. Thank you for watching Today's Inspiration. Remember to never lose hope and help one another.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony, Amir and Jasmine thought about how far they have come.
Amir:
Who would have thought
I would be able to own an art gallery, travel the world, participate in artist shows, and help different homeless communities.
Jasmine:
Your art will take you far as long as you have God in your heart and never give up anything is possible. Because God is the beginning and the end and with him you cannot fail.
Jasmine and Amir thanked God for blessing them and made a promise to always be a blessing to any one that asks or needs it.
THE END
