Meet Brady Vans

What’s your name and where are you  from?

My real name is Brady, I go by Brady Vans. Vans is the beginning of my real last name as well. I’m currently in Portland, Oregon. I also did have a 5 year stint in Los Angeles as well.  

Why do you love what you do?

It gives me full creative freedom to express myself in a therapeutic way. I would do it for free I grew up on hip hop since age four. I was bringing coolio singles to show and tell by second grade! I recall a story, my brother would record yo MTV raps Friday nights and we would watch them Saturday mornings, and one morning my brother told his friend I could rap the entire song that happened to be skee lo I wish. And sure enough I killed it. It’s little moments like these I look back on and see there was signs the whole time I was able to follow. It’s just been in me my entire life. I never planned it or did it when it became easier to record because it was cool. This is just who I am.  

What makes you different?

I want to use my platform to spread knowledge and wisdom and pay it forward with the concepts and songs I create. I’m making songs of the future for the future and working on setting the trends not following them. I am also willing to step outside the box when it comes to sound or vibe. I don’t have a preference. My recording process usually involves free styling and just emoting back the vibes I’m getting organically and then fine tuning from there. I also mix and master my own stuff so it’s a full extension of me when you hear it not how the engineer envisioned me to sound because I am the engineer. So in my opinion you get the song raw and real exactly the way I intended it to be.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself with a record label, maximizing opportunities as an independent artist. Helping put on the artists I believe in and becoming great at producing and playing multiple instruments. I can’t forget World tours that’s always been a huge dream of mine, and taking part in entrepreneurial business ventures that make sense.

What do you want to accomplish in life?

I want to leave the world a better place than I found it. I want to leave a legacy behind and I want to add value at all times as long as I’m breathing. I also want to be able to take care of my intermediate family and bless those people who have always been a huge part of my life.

What do you bring to your industry?

A fresh different perspective and sound that has a positive outlook and message. A non comfort zone approach so any and every sound sonically is potentially on the table because I believe creativity is limitless. And knack for constantly trying to hone my craft, get better in every capacity, never settle and never afraid to experiment and try things.

What do you want to be remembered by?

I want to be remembered by the impact I’ve made on the world and how many lives I’ve touched and was able to help in some way. Of course incredible music as well and more importantly an incredible person overall. 2 pac once said “I'm not saying I'm gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world.” and I relate to that in a real way.
