Is there really a rule book of how to cut people out of your life? Even if they are toxic?

From a small age you are told if someone is mean to you- stand up for yourself.

Except for boys. If a boy is mean to you- it means they like you.

When you become an adult and end up in an abusive relationship- it's your fault for being in that situation. But when a boy is mean to you, it means they like you, no?

Except family. Their your family. It's their first time living.

Isn't it your first time living, too?

If you cut everyone out that was toxic to you, you would have no one- you'd be alone.

Isn't being alone better than being in a room full of people who hate you?

When you say this information out loud everyone agrees but once you state you cut off your parents for valid reasons, suddenly you are the shit person,

Because why would a parent treat their children like shit? But acknowledge child abuse and state some parents shouldn't be parents.

When the child grows up, becomes open about these kind of parents and gives valid reasons of why they cut them out. People are out here with pitchforks after the child.

So, why the double standard?

It's not even just about toxic parents- it's toxic people in general.

My 101 guide of cutting the toxic people out is; if it's toxic- flush it or curb it, whatever seems most reasonable in the moment.

The strongest people learn to walk away on their own two feet even if it means taking a lonely path, yes it is not easy but nothing should be just tolerated for the sake of convenience

toxic is hard to see when you love or trust these kinds of people. Waking up to these kinds of people's behavior is the rough part....insightful ...keep writing
