A Housewife With No Name

a poem/song story about a woman living in an abusive marriage

By CT IdlehousePublished about 24 hours ago 1 min read

Wedding ring hooked to a chain,

Forced to take her husband's name.

Marriage bed waiting for his claim,

She cries and he doesn't care.

/

Cook, clean, and keep the home...

Barefoot, pregnant, and pliable...

He's the breadwinner, she's the party host,

String of pearls offsets the despair.

/

Don't you wish you could live the life?

Don't you wish you were a housewife with no name?

Traditional, porcelain china white,

Shards decorate the floor tonight,

She's sorry, she won't do it again.

/

Baby after baby wrecks her body,

He doesn't even feed his own babies,

He yells at her and calls her lazy,

She apologizes and swears to do better.

/

Motherfucker has a mistress,

He met her on a business trip,

She's half his age and he buys her fake tits,

And when the housewife confronts him,

He blames it on her.

/

Don't you wish you could live the life?

Don't you wish you were a housewife with no name?

Waterford crystal glasses,

Shatters and cuts her up as he rages,

She's had enough of this shit from him.

/

She sends the kids to her mother's house...

She prepares a steak dinner and wears her best outfit.

He eats every piece of meat on his plate,

While she slowly sips a Chardonnay.

He starts to sweat and his face turns blue...

There was something else in the Wagyu.

She only smiles and stays perfectly silent,

Like ladies and good housewives do.
