A Soldier’s Voice to the Powers That Be

We don’t want to fight a government’s leaders war

A Soldier’s Voice to the Powers That Be

In this land of turmoil,

where shadows creep,

I stand on the frontline,

awake and aware.

To the king, to the leaders

in power so grand,

I question your orders,

your desolate plan.

This is not my war;

my life is my own,

caught in the crossfire,

so far from home.

You speak of glory,

of honor, and pride,

but what of our lives,

and the tears that are cried?

The battles you wage,

with our dreams on the line,

while we suffer and struggle,

you sip your fine wine.

You send us to fight

for your interests and gains,

while we carry the weight

of your shattering chains.

We want to come home alive,

not in a box,

to the warmth of our families,

away from death over sea’s.

I long for my loved ones,

their love by my side,

not to be lost

in a conflict, a cruel ride.

So hear my voice now,

from the depths of despair,

I stand for my life;

I demand that you care.

For each precious moment,

there’s so much to lose,

more than just numbers;

we are human, it’s true.

I refuse to be pawns

in your game of command;

I seek only peace

and the warmth of their hand.

So listen, dear leaders,

take heed of my plea:

end these endless wars;

let us live and be free.

We want to come home alive,

not in a box;

end the conflicts now;

let peace be our talks.

    I think all soldiers and their families feel this way. Soldiers follow orders and it seems that the higher ups do not really listen to them, and then the soldiers and families start to think all kinds of things. Good job.
