Almost a Christmas Carol

magic abound

I simply am trying to hold the rhythm,

Simply am striving to build up the rhymes.

If needed, I'm ready to deploy dirty tricks,

To employ sooty grey lies and preposterous myths.

Two times two times three times

One is twelve. Look, there's an elf

On a shelf singing 'Silent Night', is it right?

And your breath reeks of cheap Champagne.

We're not rich. But we hearken to Chopin

Playing his Nocturnes, these tunes soar in the air...

And it's as if there's no pain

And no sorrow, and not because our chests

Are too hollow, but because our hearts are too big.

Look, there's a pig wearing a wig,

Munching on roasted chestnuts,

Oinking, winking, and probably thinking

That I am a fool.

I can't decide if this is joyful fun or heartbreaking. It's feels like frantic joy.
