Here I am again, alone at home,
Music playing, feeding my soul.
Valentine’s Day returns once more.
The stores are crowded with men
buying balloons and flowers
as if love only blooms once a year.
They stand in line for hours.
Every year, it amuses me more
to watch this quiet parade.
I read it in their faces...
the rush to impress,
flowers pressed to their chests.

I'm home 'alone' on Valentine's Day again. (Actually, in a way worse than alone because I share a house with my ex!) I very much enjoyed this poem, Ina!!! I love it. I love your observations. I'm disabled and I rarely leave the house. I can't drive. But I was out at Walmart *today* actually, on Valentine's Day, and saw the same mad scramble you describe. What I love about this also is hearing a woman's perspective on this-- watching men. Tomorrow, things will go back to *Normal*. ??? As if 'normal' is even definable anymore. Again: love your PoV here. ⚡💙 Bill⚡
I'm enjoying being alone this Valentine's.
