Amber Pools

I don’t remember anything but those amber eyes

By Isabella WalkerPublished about a year ago 1 min read

I don’t remember how it all fell apart

or why I stayed so long

or if the love was ever real

I don’t remember the last thing I said to you

or the last time I kissed you

or the last goodbye

I don’t remember the tone of your voice

or the sound of your laugh

or the taste of your lips

I don’t remember the first time we touched

or the first time we laughed

or the first time we loved

But I remember those eyes

the way they captured mine

And how brown mixed with gold

creating amber flakes

igniting me inside

I wanted to swim in the fire

of your eyes full of desire

So I dove in under your skin

and all I remember is that

amber glow from within
