The Era of Overindulgence

Isn't it grand

we hold the whole world in our hands

yet we post photos and quotes

usually with a filter or two

just let the world know

what are we up to.

The bings and chimes set us up

conditioned like Pavlov's dogs

we can't help but notice that when

there isn't a reward

we are left feeling empty

wishing to avoid feeling so plain

I left that world a while ago,

only to find

its everywhere I go

people snap chatting about their times

instead of investing in the now

I can't help but wonder

where are we now?

the whole world in our hands

we can't help but

want more

holding our last breath

and

amusing ourselves to death

Dear Mz. Jazzy ~ I'm just "Human" ~ In My Own Way. So glad that you noticed my 'Cheat' ~ It's so fun to reach back to our own stories that, oftentimes, we forget about ourselves; do you ever do that? I actually went back to read it - it's so lovely that VM provides us with our scroll-back to so easily to view our own 'Archives.' I have seen you stories and nice comments, forever, but thought you may be way out of my 'Senior' pond; it's such a nice feeling that you have done so.  *After scrolling through your gorgeous offerings I've subscribed to you - You are a Terrific StoryTeller.
