As the sun begins to gently sink into the horizon,
Valentine's day is coming to an end.
I ease my weary body on the couch and wonder
Why your lack of attention I still defend.
*
There were no fragrant flowers delivered,
No card that I could read.
Just the emptiness I feel
Like a wayward, unattended seed.
*
Excuses always made, you're busy, or forgot.
But is it too much to ask
For a simple "Happy Valentine's Day" mention.
It's not a difficult task.
*
Now the sun has finally set,
The darkness fills the sky.
Once again, I've slipped your mind,
As the tears now slip from my eyes.
*
Oh well, there's always next year.

Melancholic and reflective, this is beautiful, Margaret!!
Happy Valentine's Day! Other than my sister there was only one other that said this to me for I did post a Happy Valentine's Day Post to all friends and family and only 2 responded.
