Born of the dark -Raised to the light
The final chapter
In shadows depth
I breathe the silence
Like mist above dark waters
repentance weaves illusions
of salvation
of hope
of forgiveness
But I was born of the dark
light was never mine to hold
forever beyond my grasp
I exist like a shade
transparent
ignored
abandoned
alone
Satan was never a friend
only an unwanted companion
a poison voice, whispering
reminding me of my worth(less)
kindness is all I sought
longing for truth
pleading for redemption
I stole naught but my youth for want of freedom
from release of pain
from an unwanted life
from loneliness
I never wished to be born
forced to tread the waters of
Deceit
Drugs
Abuse
Addiction
where is my light?
Savior, abandon me not.
I beg of you
envelope me within your warm embrace
before I wane.
mine eyes are heavy
my soul fades to the grey
luminescent rays pierce the blackness of my life
and shines upon my soul
brilliant dews of light
cascades like ripples across water
I feel a glow within my heart
Angels whisper before the dawn
‘you who were born of the dark, now rise to the light
be at peace my child
for no longer shall you be alone'

'envelope me within your warm embrace - before I wane.' There's something about that line that made me tear up. It's a desperate plea for salvation but also acceptance and care; to be held like a child again. Wow JBaz - excellent poem!

Lovely, Jason Gave me goosebumps with the last lines
A fierce reminder of how hard some people's lives really are, Jason. It is filled with compassion and understanding and ends with hope. This poem sees life as it is rather than sanitizing it. Really well done!

As I read this, it sounded as if I was reading from the perspective of a person pulling strength from the past. From an age we've only ever read about in books. The illumination of the modern struggles, addiction and loneliness, brings this poem right home to what is relatable and to what hurts the most. Satan says we can come to him to find our worth, but he makes us feel worthless instead. I caught that, at least I think I did. Not too sure about my interpretation 🙈 The parts near the end was just too beautiful. It's almost like it's written in the voice of our saviour. And what a breath of fresh air that was. To know there's hope and there's someone to protect us ❤️🤗
