How Goes It in the Somewhere Between Here and There

Are you being overly sensitive to impatient tones? Probably.

Silence might follow and stop the conversation with a friend and avoid feeling the intense anger a partner can cause. That connection with a partner seems harder to break, but a friendship could fall apart – you know those tender, hurt feelings! So, you don’t lay fury on friends.

But, oh, the closest ones, they are stunned by the rage, and how is that fair? Don’t they deserve a thoughtful response? They lashed out first, didn’t they?

Let it fade, let the irritation soften. Don’t react. So frustrating, again and again, the same thing. What does it take to change? Breathe.

~

Silence.

Is silence a blessing? It can be a weapon, aimed at the one who slapped the psyche with a sharp tone, creating that blast of fury. Or maybe you poke back in long sentences and a raw throat, silencing the intended silence, the intent to not clap back. Receive my blessing, oh, sharp-tongued one, receive the silence of my distaste.

The righteous retort blasts outward from the crushed one, and

is met with surprise. Such an odd response.

or perhaps not odd; maybe oblivious to the effects of their tone?

Circles of conversations with laughter, some with fury

and then, there is the worst - silence.

~

Breathe.

Keep going.

This reminds me of some of my family members, silence is the best way to react when they put up brick walls. We all want peace, but it has to be a two way street. Much truth here.

I love how therapeutic this is. How it almost seeks to hold our hands, calm us down, validate but not distract from the truth of things. That sometimes... We just need to calm down. I like how we get the wisdom, that silence is not a blessing but can be used as a weapon. Slap the Psyche with a Sharp tone. I've never seen this worded this way before. I love it for its originality and how accurate it is in representation. The worse, I agree is silence. I like how we are left with 'breathe' and also with our thoughts. Thoughts of growth instead of anger. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece with us Andrea. 🤗❤️

Friendship, relationships...what a maze to traverse. Keep it simple...just a few dear ones. Thought provoking words.

  • That kinda silence is scaryyyy sometimes. Loved your poem!

Silence is powerful. Everything you say is what we know, yet putting to practice seems hard to do.

  • This was a great stream of consciousness. Many astute insights and thoughts. Silence is a double edged sword. It can be peaceful and it can transmit echoes of beauty and nature. Yet it can be used as a weapon to hurt or to punish.
