I love you, because you gave me life. I hate you because you took so much of it away.

I love you for giving me hugs, and holding me tight. I hate you for the physical rage.

I love you for making me who I am. I hate you for leaving parts out.

I love you for loving my mother. I hate you for making her doubt.

I love you for your smiles, they made everything okay. I hate you for taking those smiles away.

I love you for the protector you were. I hate you for the fear we felt on some days.

I love you because you knew everything. I hate you because you knew nothing about me.

I love you because you worked hard. I hate you because you spent it on your wants and needs.

I love you for showing me the world, good and bad. I hate you because you hated it.

I love you for being the best grandpa ever. I hate you because it wasn’t me, was it?

I love you for fighting so long and so hard. I hate you because now you are gone.

I love you for the memories, lessons and love. I hate myself for hating you so long.
