Dad Died

A tautogram on death

By Zack GrahamPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read
Dad and I in Wyoming (2014)

Dad died during disastrous disease,

days devoted drearily;

dirt, death, deceptive darkness.

Daring destiny’s damage,

daily deafening drumrolls deliver

dreadful dreams - damp, deteriorated.

Dawn dissuades doom,

divulging drifting, detoxing devils;

dining during dusk

drawing disappointment, demoralization,

dependent drownings, dabbed down, despondently.

Defaced

depersonalized dissatisfaction,

drowning derailment - deeper detachment.

Decline dissolved, decay deported:

dispelling doubtful delirium.

Dad died,

distinctive departure,

demons deemed deserving, delightful, detouring demise.

Duty delivered decorum,

dodged disillusioned debris -

Dad died

dignified.

    As somebody who knows the pain of losing their father, I commend you putting yourself out there. You can quite literally feel the emotion. He would be proud.

    Dad’s put their impressions on us for our entire life. Sometimes painfully so. As we get older we see them as mere mortals, which helps the loss.

  • I like it. Nice work.
