Deep breath

Tina Turner

maybe it feels like a breath of fresh air when you get away from the blows of an icy, angry hold

Like a prison sentence of judgment without a crime,

Maybe it feel like you can let go of that very rotten breath you’ve been holding in for so long,

Once you finally find something to make you feel like you again,

To sing as loudly as you want, dance as wildly as you’d like, to draw with long streaks of bright color or deep dark shadows,

To paint your vision into a new wind,

A breath that feels better than renewal

And maybe you realize you found that good, beautiful someone who understands you and likes you for you,

But mainly you like you for who you are and that is what’s important—

Like when Tina Turner left that no-good abuser,

And went on stage

Glaring evil in the face and being unaffected, unafraid

Taking in the new fresh, perfect breath of a livable experience of dreams.

I sense victory over oppression. Very well done.

  • A true sense of turning pain, test and trauma into a testimony.

I feel this so deeply Melissa ! Beautifully done 🥰

  • I love the lines about Tina Turner at the end. It is so true, we should all take the stage like she did.
