Elements of Love (that you ignore)
An octet poem of confusion

Why won't you talk to me?
We might have some chemistry
But if you never talk to me
Then how will we ever see?
We text, but in case you forgot
Sometimes words are cheap
Whether you believe it or not
I might just be the one you seek.
๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
But love is more than words
It is touch and sight as well,
So if you wonโt you talk to me?
Then it is time to say farewell.
๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Look into my eyes
What do you see?
There can be no disguise
Itโs my heart that you can see
Surely there is no surprise
Or do you disagree
If you never look into my eyes
There will be nothing for you to see
๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
But love is more than words
It is touch and sight as well,
So if you wonโt you look at me?
Then it is time to say farewell.
๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Take your hand place it with mine
Together we could have been one
You didnโt even see the sign
Of what could have begun
Instead, you sent words every time
True loving feelings, I saw none,
It could have been divine
Iโm left with nothing, not a single one
๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Love is more than words
It is touch and sight as well,
No talk, no touch, just texting me?
Then it is time to say farewell.

[Author's note: A series of three octet stanzas separated by a repeating quatrain interlude. The poem reflects the frustration these days where dating is (initially) all about texting rather than the other elements of falling in love - talking, looking and touching.]

Your imagery of eyes, hands and missed chances gives the poem a strong emotional edge.
Nice! ๐๐
It is interesting to find so many people who dislike this. It is ideal for someone like me. I was completely unable to "do it the normal way," as everyone wants to call it. But for some of us texting first and meeting second is normal. It takes the fear element out of it, and gives me at least the chance to show someone who I actually am, instead of just seeming like a terrified idiot.
I think this is true to todayโs relationships, not what I would be happy with. I need to feel love and see that I an in someoneโs eyes โฆ๏ธโฆ๏ธโฆ๏ธ
Great points, beautifully octeted!
I guess I'm guilty of this because this is how I would want my relatable to be, just texting, hehehe. Loved your poem!
