Why do you abandon me
After courting my longing
For so long
Cast upon my ambition
A need for lyric creation
Desire without completion
Frustrated ambition
Prosaic castration
Annihilation
Of poetic
Soul

Oh I know this feeling all too well. Beautifully expressed.
This poem powerfully conveys the pain of creative struggle and feeling deserted by inspiration. I too immediately thought of the Billy Joel song "We Didn't Start the Fire".
I might be pushing this, but when I read this it kind of reminded me of Billy Joel's 'I Didn't Start the Fire!' I really liked that song and the video that went with it. The way your words fell as I read them rhythm wise. Good job.
